This post is foolish, trying to blame Canelo and Golden Boy for Golovkin refusal to fight his MANDATORY is plain Garbage. Golovkin is trying to fight an inactive fighter who has not fought in 2 yrs. and last fought @ 154 lbs division. Man up, Golovkin your IBF mandatory is due don’t become “the business man” you said you hated. Give Chenko his shot @ the belt or vacated so he can fight someone else for it don’t keep it hostage.

A written request for sanctioning must be delivered to the I.B.O. no less than 30 days prior to the date of the contest. Included with the request shall be the record of the proposed Challenger or Challengers.

The promoter of the event must submit payment of the entire sanction fee for promoters and contestants to the I.B.O. Commissioner (Supervisor) at the Rules Meeting or prepay to the I.B.O. by bank wire transfer in connection with each bout if required by the I.B.O.

Bids below the following minimum amounts will not be considered in a bout between a champion and a challenger:

          Weight Class Minimum Bid

          105-122 $37,500

          126-147 $50,000

          154-200 $75,000

          Heavyweight $250,000

In the event that no qualified bid is made, the Championship Committee may recommend to the President that the minimum bid be reduced by up to 50% and the purse bid rebid or that the Champion be granted a release of his mandatory obligation against this mandatory challenger. The President shall determine which option will be pursued within 30 days and the President will notify the contestants of his decision in writing on or before the expiration of the 30 day period.

Should the promoter who won the bid fail, without a justified reason, to promote the World Title contest, then the money deposited with the I.B.O. will be distributed as follows:

          To the Champion 75%

          To the Challenger 20%

          To the I.B.O. 5%

The purse shall be distributed, once the fight is over, as follows:

          1. Title fights between the Champion and the Mandatory Contender, which take place in the country of origin, residence or nationality of the Champion, the Champion will receive 75% and the Challenger 25% of the purse.

Already explained why it might be an issue in my original post.

Isnt Andrade and GGG both promoted by Arum so why not these two?
            No. Two different promoters.
Im curious when this Charlo / Centeno fight was signed, especially since Charlo was GGG's mandatory...anyway seems like some step aside could have been paid ?
Who knows? Charlo talked about canceling the Centeno if Jacobs was willing to cancel the Suleki fight so they could fight each other instead. Maybe it was a possibility. But maybe that was just a fighter talking in the heat of the moment.
HBO offered just $1 million for what fight with GGG? Im sure they'ed muster up more than that for someone mega like the Russian even if he's not well known yet
I am not sure they would have for such a short notice fight. HBO has been really stingy with their money when it comes to boxing lately. That's why PBC is doing what it is doing and Arum moved to ESPN.

No one is blaming Golden Boy for GGG not fighting Sergei D. I am blaming Golden Boy and Canelo for killing the May 5th fight and putting us in this situation in the first place.

Golovkin is trying to fight an inactive fighter who has not fought in 2 yrs. and last fought @ 154 lbs division.
Correction. GGG is settling for an inactive fighter who last fought at 154. Better options were busy with other fights or would cost too much to fit in the budget HBO is providing for the fight.

Man up, Golovkin your IBF mandatory is due don’t become “the business man” you said you hated. Give Chenko his shot @ the belt or vacated so he can fight someone else for it don’t keep it hostage.
First of all, I would like to point out the irony of people whining about GGG taking on Vanes M. in a stay busy fight instead of Sergei D. Isn't Sergei D. the same guy who took on a man with a .500 record in a scheduled 8 round stay busy fight this past January. I guess when you're GGG people's standards for stay busy fights are much lower.

Secondly, I have explained my position very explicitly. If you have an actual counter argument then make it. Regurgitating the same nonsense I explained away without adding anything else to it says nothing but you don't care about making a logical argument.

HBO was only offering 1 million dollars for the fight. The only way there was a chance that both GGG and Sergei D would make enough money to satisfy both sides is if the fight was on PPV. How many people do you know would have the interest and the money to buy a PPV fight headlined by GGG and Sergei D? Do you think 3 weeks would worth of promotion would have been enough to really drive sales? On top of that you better hope that GGG vs. Sergei D fight is amazing because that undercard would be straight up doo doo. With such short notice and such a small budget they wouldn't even be able to afford to pay quality guys for showcase fights. It would easily be one of the weakest and least meaningful undercards ever put on a PPV event. That isn't really going to help drive hardcore fans (the only ones who would be interested in paying for that fight) to buy the event.

No it wasn't. It was the same nonsense repeated ad naseum by all the haters. Don't encourage lazy arguments.

Only offering $1 million dollars to share between two men? Wow....
I'm on the boat of thinking that most fighters are overpaid, but how does a guy who has nearly all the belts and constantly puts on good fights only gets a small portion of $1mil when Deontay Wilder can get 3mil for fighting Ortiz wtf... surely they should be getting $1.5-2mil a piece?

Canelo is to blame, he put the entire fight in jeopardy with his steroid use if he fought naturally we could have been looking forward to a great fight May 5th... but nope!
Canelo has ruined the entire event with his selfish unsporting antics he is a pathetic cheater who imo I wouldn't mind seeing never return to boxing.

HBO is in the business of making money. They will not shell out cash for something they will not get in return.
No, Saunder's Murray fight is to be promptly "shelved if Golovkin accepts Warren's [huge] offer". Charlo isnt willing to do the same

Ok right but I had been reading that Arum is offering more to promote Golovkin's tentative May 5th appointment on ESPN and Andrade who was promoted by Star, Banner, and Roc Nation (until sued) has also recently been in negotiations to join Arum on ESPN,

Another reason no one knows who will win the purse and promote the fight is because its Laughner who wants more money to fight Derevyanchenko, who's promoter is apparently suing to make the fight happen.
