There are many reasons.

1) He hasn't fought in two years
2) He has spent his entire career in a smaller weight class
3) He's lost two of his last three fights, and three of his last six
4) Despite all those normally disqualifiers, he is even willing to take the fight on 3 weeks notice.
5) He is otherwise retired, so however much he gets, he will take. It can be peanuts for a normal title challenger, but it is a lot for an unemployed middle aged man.

I'm sure there are more reasons it makes sense for g, but there are a few.
