but they faced their fair share of weak opposition..........
After you defeat the top contenders you fight the rest if you want to stay active.
The guys toda who only fight once a year are bashed and rightfully so but when the past champions fight the lower ranked men they now get bashed!!!!
You can't have both ways kids!
Ali went to Europe he gave guys who he beat another shot if they stayed fighting and were worthy opponents.

If Floyd and others actually fought 4-5 times a year, it would be fine to have an odd easy defense.The likes of GGG and Floyd would get crucified for fighting some of the guys the likes of Ali, Leonard, Hagler etc.. did at some points. I know they also fought some great fighter, but they faced their fair share of weak opposition.
Imagine Ali was around in the day of internet forums and he announced a fight with a 30-9 Chuck Wepner or a 17-4 Jimmy Young.Comment

Because Leon Spinks was a 25-year old former Olympic gold medalist when he fought Ali after 7 fights. He was the underdog, but he didn't show up without any ability.
Golovkin and his camp were literally trying to set up a fight against a, less than a year removed, 20 year old welterweight who was basically still can crushing.
Literally a worse matchup than Danny Garcia vs Rod Salka, because at least Salka showed that he had some ability at 130/135 before fighting Garcia.Comment

I'm a GGG fan but please dont compare GGG to Ali. Look at the monsters Ali had on his resume by thenComment

different era, many of the top fighters had losses on their records because they took on all comers. If the top boxers from back then were matched like Floyd and Calzaghe were in later years they would have blown his 49-0 record out of the water - i refuse to acknowledge McGregorThe likes of GGG and Floyd would get crucified for fighting some of the guys the likes of Ali, Leonard, Hagler etc.. did at some points. I know they also fought some great fighter, but they faced their fair share of weak opposition.

First of all, your definition is fabricated. There is no regulated definition of bum as it relates to Boxing. Essentially, you're making that definition up.BUM?.................someone without effort or heart to win.
Leon Spinks;
All USA Army Champion
National (USA) Champion 1974, 75, & 76!
Olympic Gold Medalists Champion RSC (stopped) Sixto Soria Cuba
To refer to Spinks as a bum in his first bout with Ali shows the OP knows NOTHING about boxing and boxing terminology.
Just another forum rube begging for attention.

What most people think of as a bum is the DEFINITION of the word bum which in this case is the:
adjective
1.
of poor quality; bad or wrong.
"not one bum note was played"
synonyms: bad, poor, inferior, second-rate, second-class, unsatisfactory, inadequate, unacceptable, substandard, not up to scratch, not up to par, deficient, imperfect, defective, faulty, shoddy, amateurish, careless, negligent;
In the pro's Leon Spinks was a bum. Ray, eggh come on man. Why are you defending a 26-17 fighter that was knocked out 9 times?
Audley Harrison had good amateur pedigree, in the pro's he was a bum.Comment

Just curious. Who were these bums that Hagler fought excluding guys at the beginning of his career.The likes of GGG and Floyd would get crucified for fighting some of the guys the likes of Ali, Leonard, Hagler etc.. did at some points. I know they also fought some great fighter, but they faced their fair share of weak opposition.
