But if true that Canelo test showed less clen than did Vargas and Morales, he should be allowed to fight.
I normally would agree. But since Vargas, NSAC revised their bylaws adding a "strict liability" clause. So using meat as excuse won't fly. NSAC will only see it as "if you have a banned substance in your system, you're being punished. Period. Whether or not it was by meat or a pill, it won't matter"

Gotcha. Was not aware NSAC had revised their clause.

His defense is that it was "unknowingly". Normally this excuse is immediately dismissed as a poor attempt to escape blame. However, Mexico has a well-documented history specifically with Clenbuterol.
His defense won't exonerate him or stop him from being suspended. It will only lessen the length of it.

All the numbers won't matter because NSAC has a zero threshold for the amount of Clen that could be in someone's system.

So NSAC will only look at it as "is it in his system? yes or no? If yes, suspension will follow".

So basically any Mexican fighter found with clenbuterol in their system should be found innocent as long as they say that they ate carne asada?? Nah, he tested positive and there's going to have to be more done to prove innocence than just saying, hey, I ate some bad meat. Sign this man up for yr round testing at his own expense.

Yeah man. They did it in 2016. I don't know if it was a direct result of the Vargas situation or if it was influenced by it. Either way, they tried to eliminate the "excuse" factor and make it very clear what will happen if it's in your system.

Of course he can’t be found guilty, because the Worst Boxing Corrupt organization says so...that solves that I guess.

Corruption is pretty rare in Mexico. People always tend to mistake it with Switzerland.

Sauliman of the WBC points out that Mexico has a huge problem with the use of drugs in their cattle, citing the FIFA incident (where more than a hundred teenagers tested positive specifically for Clenbuterol), NFL players who have failed drug tests following trips from Mexico, Olympic committee offering specific warnings for those from/traveling to Mexico, previous Mexican boxers, and professional weightlifters.

The WBC created the CLEAN BOXING PROGRAM. Administered by VADA under WADA guidelines, we have experienced a wide variety of situations, different substances, different scenarios, complicated research, investigations and rulings. We stand tall to see the WBC CBP working and will continue to have this as one of our top priorities. WE ARE THE ONLY INTERNATIONAL BOXING ORGANIZATION THAT HAS CREATED A PROGRAM TO EDUCATE, ENROLL AND RANDOMLY TEST OUT AND IN COMPETITION, AND BATTLE DOPING IN OUR SPORT BECAUSE, FOR THE WBC, there is nothing more sacred than the safety and physical integrity of the boxers, while making sure that justice is served through the corresponding application of our constitution, rules and regulations through the due process and the world principle of innocence until proven otherwise.

He also makes it clear that Canelo's Clenbuterol levels were consistent with other athletes who had tested positive for Clenbuterol that was found to be the result of meat contamination.

Additionally the WADA director of the facility that collected the specimens stated:

So while one can argue there was negligence on the part of Canelo and his team in not being more particular with his diet and where he got his meat from, but I don't live in Mexico so I can't really speak on the availability of alternative meats.

In other words, I don't hold him accountable for any PED use if their investigation determines meat contamination was responsible for the failed tests. Similarly I don't hold him accountable for anything until the investigation is complete because, as of now, he is innocent and his alleged excuse is good enough for me because:
                  1. He's never failed drug tests before and has done OSDT in the past (Mayweather, etc.)
                  2. He was enrolled in VADA's 2017 365 program (never failed)
                  3. He's fucking Ca$hnelo baby
You posted Golden Boy's chopped to hell statement. Right after Dr. Eichner said that, he also said the most important thing "Further investigation is needed to make a final determination"

Also another thing to note, of all those kids that failed the test at the U-17 world cup for clenbuterol 106 of them tested between 50 and 300 picograms.

Only 3 of them tested anywhere between +301 and 1300. That would make Canelo something of a 1/100 exception as well since he was between 600 and 800...

Calling BS on the "meats" story. Its on him to prove this meat story, even then the best he could hope for is a 6-month suspension.

The best predictor of the future are past events.

Erik Morales fought Danny Garcia even after testing (+) for Clenbuterol

Erik Morales’ ‘irregular’ A sample USADA drug test came back positive for trace amounts of clenbuterol, known to be a drug that assists in weight loss.

Francisco Vargas given "provisional license" after testing (+) for Clenbuterol

                    http://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_/i...-majority-draw

Both of those fights took place on their original announced dates.

I understand NSAC has changed their policy regarding such behavior, but - as it stands - I expect the fight to continue.

Francisco Vargas and Erik Morales were allowed to fight as scheduled. Why would it be any different for CA$HNELO???
