109 out of 289 soccer players tested positive for Clenbuterol during Mexico's sub-17 World Cup in 2011.
And NONE of them were Mexican. Why ? Because they knew clen in Mexican meat was a problem, so they avoided eating it.
But 7 years later, Canelo still doesn't know it might be a problem eating meat in Mexico.Comment

The levels of Clenbuterol found in Alvarez are consistent and lower than other athletes levels from the example as detailed above which were ultimately reported as food contamination.
In the case of the U17 soccer players, the 109 adverse tests ranged from 0.001ng/ml to 1.556ng/pl. So assuming they were all from contaminated meat, the 1.556ng level presumably gives an upper bound (Canelo was 0.6-0.8).
In the case of the U17 soccer players, FIFA tested the meat from the team hotels and found 30% of it was tainted, leading to arrests in both the hotel industry and slaughterhouses.
Basically what the WBC is ruling here is that as long as your level is below around 1.5ng, and you claim it is from tainted meat, you CANNOT be found guilty of doping. That's open licence to use it in Mexico - just make sure you don't exceed the 1.5ng (and immediately blame meat).Comment

Been said a hundred times already. It is up to Canelo to prove he's clean. I have very strong doubts not just because of past traces of foul play but the fact that the guy has just gone into hiding and done nothing whatsoever to show it was accidental meat contamination. He should have found out and been jumping at the opportunity to do this often mentioned hair test in hopes of at least adding some credence to his supposed innocence, if not out right clear him.Comment

Somebody wants their sanctioning fee money!!!! Can we agree on one thing, unless their were unimpeachable evidence such as a video there is no way of knowing how Canelo got the banned substances in his body. This WBC knucklehead knows no more than anyone else. At the end of the day the rules seem pretty clear, the fighter is responsible for everything in their system whether it got there with their knowledge or not.Comment
