They could do it at the O2 even
Dillian Whyte vs Big Baby Miller is still the fight to make

We'll have to agree to disagree on this. I honestly can't see any justification for all the hype Ortiz gets from US fans.I don't see it. I think he probably shoulda took a L to Del Boy, a shot or non-peak Del Boy at that, or at best he was life & death with him if you feel he eeked out the decision he was given.
I doubt that. Teams like Wilder's rarely lack in confidence, rightly or wrongly.
And I think Ortiz was a bigger risk than Whyte. I think Ortiz f#cks up Whyte's sh^t bad. I think Ortiz might be the #3 guy in the division above Parker too despite Parker holding a belt.
Is that just cuz you're a UK fan?
Cuz me personally I enjoy UK & US boxing & to me a fight between two guys with Wilder's & Joshua's standing as the best two guys in the division + their KO records + their vulnerability is damn near mouth watering at my anticipation of it going down. Its the most fun fight I think there is in boxing right now to me. I wouldn't care if both were US guys or both were UK guys that 1 vs 2 matchup with unbeaten destroyers would be what I wanted to see.
Meanwhile I don't see how Joshua vs Whyte II works out any other way then Joshua KO's Whyte, but probably quicker & in a less competitive fight thus I see lil appeal in that if it happened next, after Whyte KO'd Wilder or 3 years down the line.
The guy has literally never won anything, amateur or pro, and has failed 3 PED tests, which, to me, discredits the only decent win on his record, over Jennings.
Against Wilder, Ortiz's fitness was so atrocious that he totally blew himself out in 30 seconds of wild flailing after hurting Wilder in the 7th. Yeah, it was an exciting fight - for the same reasons that Whyte vs Chisora was exciting, and I didn't see any difference in class between those two fights.
If you want to compare Ortiz to Whyte, compare their fights with Dave Allen.
Allen fought Ortiz immediately after losing for the first time and getting the absolute crap beaten out of him for 10 rounds by Whyte. Yeah, Ortiz stopped him, but I don't think he looked any better than Whyte while doing so.
And I would say that Whyte has improved and Ortiz has deteriorated since then, due to the differences in their ages and medical histories.Comment

I wouldn't hate seeing these two fight. I think that'd be a more interesting fight than Whyte vs Wilder or Joshua II.We'll have to agree to disagree on this. I honestly can't see any justification for all the hype Ortiz gets from US fans.

I think Big Baby vs Whyte is the most interesting fight for Whyte. I wouldn't hate seeing the winner of that fight getting a shot at Wilder or Joshua. But I've just not seen Whyte do anything he wasn't supposed to do to get all this UK fan love. He was life & death with Del Boy. Del Boy lol. I can't get over that is part of it I guess. I thought he looked the superior guy today, but he still looked like garbage (outside of the KO) & was wide open to be hit vs better opposition. Agree to disagree doe.
And part of me will be happy when Whyte gets a big fight so I can be proven wrong or we can quit talking about this mfer in a serious way cuz he stunned Joshua once upon a time. I'm more excited about Daniel Dubois in a couple years on the UK side than Whyte x2 of what he is now.Comment

Tbh, Whyte gets more love from UK fans at this forum than he gets irl in the UK. Every single one of my casual boxing fan mates thought he was going to get KOd by Browne. I predicted he would win on points.I wouldn't hate seeing these two fight. I think that'd be a more interesting fight than Whyte vs Wilder or Joshua II.

I liked his performance myself, especially the jab, his strength in the clinches and mauling - because Browne is one hell of a strong guy himself - and the controlled way he went about breaking Lucas down. And yeah, that was one of the most devastating one punch KOs I've seen for quite a while.
It's easy to say "against a better opponent doe .." but the fact is, he was fighting Lucas Browne, and he knew he could afford to do things that would have been risky against a faster opponent without having to pay for them.Comment

Same. I expected more from Browne.

I think he just fights like that. I think he'll fight like that with more carefulness vs a Joshua or Wilder, but thats about it. He's there to be hit. Del Boy showed that. Joshua showed that. I don't see any difference in the brother. It's easy to say "against a better opponent doe .." but the fact is, he was fighting Lucas Browne, and he knew he could afford to do things that would have been risky against a faster opponent without having to pay for them.
Randomly how do you see Joshua vs Whyte II going down if it got made next?Comment

Just to clarily, I meant that I predicted Whyte to win on points, or maybe late KO, not Browne. So I had fun sending "What did I tell you?" texts to some of my mates after it was over. I must admit doe, I didn't think he was capable of knocking Browne spark out with one punch like that. Lucas has been decked a couple of times in his career, due to his terrible defence, but he always got up and recovered quickly, and seemed to be a very durable guy.Same. I expected more from Browne.

I lost a bit of money betting on Whyte to win vs AJ. I had that fight 60/40 AJ, but the odds against Whyte were so good that I decided to put a tenner on him winning inside the distance, because I know that AJ gasses and Whyte just keeps coming and coming. I still believe that if Dillian hadn't been carrying a bad left shoulder injury going in, that bet would have payed off.
They have both improved a lot since then. If they fought again I would still see it the same way - 60/40 AJ, and for the same reasons.Last edited by kafkod; 03-25-2018, 08:30 AM.Comment
