They still get charged $4.99 & if they show a fight a month you would still be paying the same amount. Not like you only get charged 16 cents a day.

They'll probably do a free trial when it comes out so I suspect no one will even have to pay for Crawford vs Horn, but AFTER THAT it'll be another story if you wanna keep watching fights.
Right, but you stop the further $5 a month charges if you cancel after the fight. So if there is nothing of interest to you the next month or two, you aren’t paying for it. That’s what I mean by selectively suscribing.

Regarding replays, I forgot where I heard they won’t. But we’ll see.

I hate streaming fights so I won't be purchasing the app.

I'd be super surprised if they show TV shows & movies.

My assumption is this will be a Sport Person's App/Service. So I'd expect all the 30 for 30's to end up there & maybe they can do some Brown Sugar type sh^t & make some sorta deal for some sports films on demand or some original content, but I wouldn't expect them to be showing Scarface on there.

I wouldn't be surprised if it has the ability to stream all ESPN channels + has a backlog of sports content you could watch on demand like last nights boxing show you missed for w/e reason.

Idk how much appeal there would be for watching too much older sports sh^t doe. Maybe with certain games, fights or w/e, but mass content of some random football games from 2007 or older might be overkill. But having a bunch of TR fights in the TR catalog would be cool no matter how far back they go.

I suspect they’ll have old TR fights. Which are all free via Youtube. Gonna be a hard sell unless they can get Pacquiao on there, but that’s not happening.

Yea but if there is a fight a month then you'd be locked in. And I can't imagine they are throwing a fight like Crawford vs Horn on there & thinking boxing fans are gonna subscribe & unsubscribe month to month based on the schedule lacking boxing. They will provide the content cuz boxing fans are loyal like bottom b^tches & once you got them paying that first $4.99 you'll have a high % of them locked in.

Regarding replays, I forgot where I heard they won’t. But we’ll see.
Steve Kim, who seems to have a nice line of contact with Arum, said he's not sure yet. I trust him more than most with knowing the moves Arum is involved with.

I can't imagine why they wouldn't do that doe. This app is probably gonna start off slow, even with a free trial. Does Arum really want like 200k people world wide to see Crawford vs Horn?!?!? Seems counterproductive to their business model. If I'm Arum I'm making sure THAT fight for sure gets replayed on TV or gets put on TR's or ESPN's Youtube site or f#cking something.

Why would you be locked in? I may want to pay $5 for Crawford-Horn this month but have no intentions of paying $5 for Gilberto Ramirez vs. lame contender next month.

I heard they won’t do replays immediately. But I don’t have the connection to Arum someone else has. The fact that they do have that connection yet can’t say it’s happening is telling, IMO. Let’s see.

Idk man. First off I think its about more than boxing, but yea boxing seems to be a big part of it. And if they can convert 1% of the audience of ESPN to ESPN+ viewers thats like 900k people ($4.5M a month, $54M a year in revenue). And I think everything is moving this way right now so you are fighting the future by not doing these types of things now.

Although I will admit when you consider filup79's post in this thread & all the charges people are going to be paying there will need to be some sorta correction to this current model thats transitioning from broadcast TV to streaming content or they is gonna be a huge bloodbath...and I suspect a lil of both will be happening at some future date as it becomes the standard in the industry.

I'm saying most cats wouldn't do that doe. Sure some would. Most wouldn't doe. People are lazy like that.

Plus I thought you meant there'd be gaps in the schedule so like they'd have a fight in May, but not in June or something like that..

Like I said I trust Steve Kim with TR related sh^t more than most. I've seen a TON of rumors about this sh^t & few facts.

But again I don't see why they wouldn't...or release it somewhere. I mean if this is the normal model for a $60-$100 PPV idk why it wouldn't be for a $4.99 monthly service.

Lol I love this post. You’re answering your own questions but raising different scenarios. And I agree with pretty much everything you’re saying. I don’t know what metric ESPN will use to determine boxing’s impact, but I suspect they don’t care. It’s not like they have a heavy financial interest in this deal. But as far as boxing fans go, no I don’t think too many of them will be jumping out the window to pay for an app that will feature very little of Crawford-Horn and a lot more of Gilberto Ramirez vs. God knows who.
