    HBO or Showtime?

I was just wondering in terms of boxing which Network you think is better for the sport, HBO or Showtime? I'm talking who puts on better Pay-Per-Views, and overall which Network does more for the sport.

In my opinion it's HBO hands down. Showtime has it's moments(Corrales/Castillo) but I think HBO gets the bigger fights and overall puts on the better shows. Plus I can't stand Showtime's commentators, give me Lampley and Merchant anyday of the week.

I hate Merchant and Lampley with a passion. Especially after they leave all that saliva on Jermain Taylors nuts tommorrow. They need to replace Merchant with Teddy Atlas. Atlas is great.

I do think Lampley and Merchant tend to be more than a little "clingy" to certain prospects. However I think that when it comes down to calling a fight they make a good team, Showtime's guys seem to be reading from a teleprompter with almost no emotion at all. Whereas Lampley sometimes sounds on the verge of heart failure.

Atlas as a commentator would be scary. Definately something I'd like to see.

agreed. But i love lampley so i definetly think they should keep him.

HBO = The more established fighters fighting, and u get an occasional really exciting fight!

SHOWTIME = The less known fighters, but ur usually gonna get a very even match and usually an overall better fight.

It depends on what u like. but id go with HBO, because those are the fights people will talk about in years. The fights u can tell ur kids that u saw live and stuff. Showtime has the fights ull talk about for a year or two, and they wont be remembered again. But their are obviously exceptions to both (showtime-corrales castillo 1 and 2, HBO-Gatti Ward 1-3)

It's hard to call. HBO typically brings the biggest names, Showtime brings the best fights. HBO has the starpower, which translates into boring, one-sided fights. Showtime has the guys battling for respect, which means high powered collisions. If you're judging by winning over more fans, Showtime is definitely better for the sport. In the last year, they produced Castillo-Corrales I, Brewster-Liakhovich, Mormeck-Bell, Garcia-Rivera. The only bout HBO has telecast that rivals any of these in excitement is Cotto-Torres, which was an undercard to a boring heavyweight fight. I'm only interested in HBO right now for Taylor-Wright.
