He wasn't in training camp or on his diet yet. New info provided by his promoter sounds like they know what it was and have proof or data to support it but can't speak on it until Nevada is done.

"I'm 100% sure that this fight is going to take place. "We have sent data, all the information we have, everything, [to the Nevada State Athletic Commission]. In the end, when they finish the investigation we can talk and publicly and provide the details of the situation. They are preparing well because the fight will happen. If they think the fight is going to be canceled, they are very wrong.
"[Canelo] is going to take care of himself, he has told me 'this will never happen to me again. What happens, is people do not understand that a fighter is not on a diet all year, he is only on a diet when he is preparing for the fight. Between fights is when they eat their sweets, their chocolates, their cookies, if they drink, they drink. This is what is happening here, he was not in training, he was not in his camp and he did not take care of the diet."

Of course. K2 knew all this all along. They got the consulting, knew Canelo would be exonerated per WADA and VADA consultation, but at the very least tried to make a scandal out of it, with hopefully changing negotiations

In a word, yes. Or perhaps he could emigrate. His boxing career is likely to earn him $100s of millions. Many people make greater sacrifices for far, far less. I think leniency is appropriate for a first offence in the absence of proof of deliberate wrongdoing, but the Ginger One should face severe penalties were the same thing to happen again.

he's just walking proof of how ridiculous/indept drug testing is and why we perhaps shouldn't even bother

Maybe but who wants to do meat research when eating out anywhere.
A Mexican boxer who knows he is about to start VADA testing for a high profile mega fight might decide that not eating meat in restaurants till after the fight is over would be a good idea. Just a thought.

Not eating meat the day before, and not informing VADA that he had been eating at a restaurant the day before. Or maybe even the same day.
