The problem is the farms are not out there telling the public they use this stuff. The public doesn't know which do and don't nor do the restaurants and butchers who get the meat from the farms and slaughterhouses. Only way they would know is if they send their meat off to lab for testing. Again it sounds easy in hindsight. But it's a real problem in mexico. Sure canelo was probably naive thinking this wouldn't effect him. But he's not the first athlete to come into contact with contaminated meat in Mexico and likely won't be the last. The real solution is its probably time for canelo to move out of Mexico and eat nothing coming from that country. They don't have the standards and regulations to get this problem under control themselves.
It even states: MEAT AND EGGS
Beef is grass grazed locally grown animals living the good life under blue skys in the cool hills of El Tuito. The animals are free of hormones or steriods. Eggs are from free range, grain fed hens. Chickens are conventional fresh hens, free of hormones or steriods or preservatives.
Canelo could afford pay them to send meat to him. Remember that athletes need to be careful on what they eat and must read every ingredient. Canelo is a top boxer in the world and should be very careful especially when there is history of tainted meat in your country.
Boxers know they risk injury in the ring. But there’s a more insidious danger they don’t often talk about: the long-term brain damage that repeated blows to the head can cause. Lyra McKee meets the families who are breaking the silence
