According to this article, "Clenbuterol’s anabolic effects are primarily seen in animals and not humans." In humans it works mostly as a stimulant that can be used to aid weight loss. So perhaps Golovkin is correct in asserting this will have no impact on the outcome of the fight. https://supplementpolice.com/clenbuterol/
I'm over this "nothing burger" no pun intended, am looking forward to weekend's bouts.
If it didn't have benefits, it wouldn't be a banned substance

the whole thing is just farcical, the way the news was announced with a disclaimer of tainted meat and how the sanctioning bodies backed him straight away. once again boxing is in the news for the wrong reasons.

I remember a few years back Mexico hosted the FIFA u17 world cup. During that tournament a few Germany players tested positive for clenbuteral, and if I remember correctly they concluded it was from contaminated meat, so the contaminated meat theory has some truth to it.

My question is why is Canelo training in Mexico when he has to be aware that contamination is a possibility?

Now regardless of whether he was cheating or not,his reputation is forever damaged.

              Heh, damn.

Yeah our bodies are great at filtering out the bull****, and absorbing the nutrients we need.

I would think to actually ingest enough of this via meat, would be the liver of the cow, where it would absorb, and filter and whatnot the Clenbuterol, so there'd be large concentrations in there.

I would love to see studies done where a sample size of test subjects eat meat that is confirmed to be "contaminated with Clenbuterol" for like a week - just normal amounts of meat with each meal, say, three-five times a day, for a month or so. then see after consuming about the average amount of meat, or maybe a little more than average, if their piss has Clen. metabolites in it.

I want to see actual clinical tests showing how much meat it would take to cause a false-positive on a drug test for Clenbuterol.

I mean, don't you think it's possible they were trying to get a competitive advantage, and intentionally took it? Or maybe the team trainers was giving it to them for them to get a competitive advantage?

IDK - I need to see more research about this to determine the likelihood of urinating Clen. metabolites from eating contaminated meat.

I read something about a German study done in China. The highest concentration recorded was from a female resident of Shanchuan (might not be spelling that right), whose urinalysis result was 50 picogram per million

I honestly don't know anything about Clenbuteral and how much is from contaminates or from actually taking it. I just know it was a big deal during the u17 world cup and ever since then, warnings are given to athletes competing in Mexico or China about the meat.

Canelo or someone in his team should have known about this. They should have been cautious, they weren't.

Now as I said regardless Canelo' s reputation is forever ruined. He will always be seen as a cheat or someone who tried to cheat.

Mexican fans will now automatically give ANY Mexican athlete a pass when they fail for clen. How can they make a distinction if it was intentional or not? They created a built-in excuse for every cheater in their country.
