AJ is obviously the more technically-skilled fighter and likes to fight in position 1 and 2 (up close and mid-range), Wilder prefers positions 2 and 3 (mid range and long-range).

AJ's biggest punches are his right hand and the upper cut. He can throw the former from any position but will need Wilder to be at 2, preferably 3 to throw the uppercut.

I just think the matchup ultimately favors Wilder because he brings more weapons to the table, i.e., he is more agile, more power, pivots better, better stamina, much better back-foot fighting, moves head better and most importantly is awkward.

The haters, however, only see Wilder's power. Everything else I have stated in the last paragraph gets ignored.
Great points!!! Imo Joshua is the more complete fighter but I also think Wilders strong points come out ahead in a matchup.Although it gets even closer if we see a 240-3pd Joshua as his stamina is MUCH better. But Wilder speed and POWER in st8 right just works well with a little square Joshua who also don't move his head. And I agree if it somehow ends up an inside fight that favers Joshua big.

Especially if Wilder doesn’t do anything for the first 4 rounds like he did against Ortiz.
Wilder will not be LOST at all in 1st four rounds with Parker. It was the southpaw style and Ortiz skills which Parker does not have.He has a chance if he can make it an inside fight but I don't see that. His square style will be WIDE open for Wilders JAB which is the key.Behind that come the best punch in the div and I don't see Parker walking though that.Trust me even though Wilder is still raw you will NEVER see him so lost as last week.Because their is not another 350 fight TOP Am who is also a southpaw who could take away his JAB.

Ortiz nullified Wilder's jab because of the lefty and his ring craft. Please, let's stop acting like AJ has the ring craftiness that Ortiz does - AJ doesn't. AJ does not move his head. He is a come forward kind of fighter and cannot fight on the backfoot.

How then does he beat Wilder? He will have to catch Wilder and destabilize him for AJ to win. AJ's chances of winning are slimmer in my opinion than Wilder's. Wilder can win early or late. AJ can only win early - again my opinion.

The hype around AJ will be his downfall. Winning an olympic gold medal is why he is being hyped up the most. It is easier to support and justify but looking at the match ups, AJ's most important advantages (his compact shots and combinations) require a stationary target and someone who prefers to fight up close. Wilder is neither of those - prefers range and is not stationary.
        Good points.

Bro, agreed with what you have said. The only thing I will correct is that AJ is the more "technically" complete fighter. I don't believe he is the more complete fighter. As I stated in my previous post, if only boxing was all about technique, then those are the only folks that will win.

See Errol Spence for instance, he is technically very sound (not the best), but has heart, power, great stamina, able to cut the ring, pivots well and ready to fight anyone. If you only left him with technique and took the rest out of the equation, I think he would have lost already.

AJ has better boxing fundamentals than Wilder. However, Wilder's punches are more powerful, Wilder is faster, moves better, etc. All those things are what makes it difficult to fight Wilder. I think Wilder is the more complete fighter while AJ is the more technically sound/complete fighter.

Well said, bro. Styles make fight. Arreola destroyed Molina in 1 round. Wilder did it in 9 rounds and AJ in 3 rounds. Does that mean Arreola beats Wilder or AJ? No. Wilder already used just 1 hand to beat Arreola. I am willing to bet anything that AJ beats Arreola too.

This is why I keep harping on the styles and match ups. People want to use a similar opponent or speed to determine how a match goes. It does not work like that.

Wilder was more hurt in the fight against Ortiz when compared to Malik Scott against Ortiz. But Ortiz beat Scott and lost to Wilder. Boxing is not 1 + 1 = 2. Match-ups, time and day, motivation, styles, preparation, skills, composure, etc. all come into play.

The only reason this is happening is because Parker was considered the safe bet because of his size and style. I fully expect Parker to give Joshua a MUCH harder fight than he's expecting and I'd love to see Parker win only because I believe that will lead to a title unification fight. If Joshua wins we're gonna see more of the Adonis Stevenson type of champion out of Joshua. All talk and full avoidance of any credible defenses unless backed into a corner. Come on Parker!
              Well said.

That's what I meant by being more "complete".He has more of an arsenal AND better tech correct. But Yea agree what Wilder does do right can trump his advantages.

Agreed. Also, I listen to some of the UK commentaries and they say Wilder is easy meet for Fury and AJ. I just laughed listening to them. I am looking forward to their excuses after both get whooped by Wilder. They say he was throwing arm punches - but do not state that those were thrown when Wilder thought he had his opponent hurt. They are the ones furthering the windmill theory - I enjoy seeing that as they will look foolish when their 'technical' and non-windmill geniuses get whooped by the 'windmill' man in Wilder.

Got it. Not sure that's what most of these other folks on here and the commentators mean. They keep ignoring the things that Wilder brings to the table. Technique is not the only thing that wins. Look at the Wilder-Ortiz co-main event. Most will say that Andre is more technical than Jose, but he got whooped too.
