Different Olympic weight division to Solis. Ortiz went to the world champs and got knocked out in the quarter final. AJ after boxing for only 2 1/2 years went to the world champs and got a silver. Ortiz isn't some great amateur.Comment

I don't know. A primed Luis Ortiz was stronger than a bull. He punch like a mule. I don't know about now but that Luis Ortiz would have knocked Klitschko out. In addition, of course, the entire region of the U.K. Would be tuning in watching the fight tonight; Including Anthony Joshua. Who would want to miss this fight?
I’m gonna try and stay up to watch it but I’ll probably flake 3ish like normal
I still think it will do decent viewing numbers in the uk though . The uk hasn’t got a lot going for it but the gear is strong and we love our boxingComment

When Wladimir Klitschko had the chance and free to fight a legitimate champion ( Deontay Wilder) he picked a guy with a win over Charles Martin. But the 'Bronze-Bomber' had a top five win on his record and held the title he so longed for -- the belt his superior brother held....yes I remember what Vitali said....'My brother holds more titles but I hold the belt that matters'.
I'm guessing you're a Wilder fan so you won't see reason as you all seem to high on whatever Wilder is smoking but boxing is business and it made much more sense for him to fight AJ.
The WBC belt used to be the most prestigious until Wilder got hold of it and held it hostage for a couple of years by not fighting anyone ranked (h'es not getting credit from me for the Stiverne rematch as that was a farce). Tonight should give us a good look at where Wilder stands, personally I see him sticking behind his jab for a few rounds then as soon as Ortiz gets tired he'll pounce on him.
The fact of the matter is the USA are so desperate to have a heavyweight champion so will do anything to keep that belt.
After their respective fights then there is no reason we as fans shouldn't have the AJ v Wilder fight, it doesn't need to marinate any longer as it would do big numbers wherever it is held.Comment

from a technical standpoint Ortiz is the most skilled HW out there. period.
let's not pretend like Wlad was this master boxer. all the mofo did was jab, jab, right hand, clinch. repeat. his size and reach saved him.
I'm picking Wilder to beat Ortiz based on pure strength and awkwardness not technical skills.
but if we're talking Vitali that's another story. Vitali would be undisputed champ in this era.
but technically Ortiz is better whan Wlad. not even close.Comment

and even at the age of 40, still gave today's no.1 HW hell.
I'll go where the evidence lies, and its certainly not in Ortiz's achievementsComment

Wlad had pretty basic skills but with the help of Steward he honed it to perfection. Wilder isn't necessarily wrong but that statement doesn't tell the whole story because Wlad had a long reign as champion.Comment
