🐼, I happened to notice the facial skin and skeletal area really good in the article pic. I compared to a few from past years, he looks really good. Did you ever notice how before he had an almost jaundice look to him, especially round the eyes! He was wearing his body thin. Age can be a funny thing for some fighters, but not all.
Do you really think he’s obedient to his new trainer? Cause I believe, since amateurs, he hasn’t had a coach. You see how JDJ was getting sonned by Kov! Lol

Idk that it'll matter THAT much. Age catches up to everyone. Sure there are guys like Bhop & Foreman & even Floyd who got up there still performing at a higher level, but even they didn't show their absolute best in their later years even if they had some high moments.

Its a young mans game & there comes a time when your experience can't make up for your advanced mileage.

And with all those top notch guys at 175 lining up I think even if Kov was still #1 it'll soon wear on him fighting all these guys eventually.

Randomly I'm lowkey hoping the WBSS makes a 175 tournament this year. That division is solid at the top.

Stevenson (WBSS pays better then Showtime does), Kovalev, Bivol (assuming he beats Barrera), Beterbiev, Alvarez, Jack (if he looks good &/or beats Stevenson), Browne & the Nail. That would be like the CW tournament all over again.

Like Money May told Merchant " you don't know shi+ about boxing" Ward landed two questionable low blows the rest were on the belt line. Your boy Kovalev was looking for an excuse out of the fight. In the later rounds Ward landed a punch that was very legal and Kovalev immediately looked at Weeks to interject and give him time to recover. So stop with all that BS.

Wtfe, there's plenty of gif's showing the repeated low blows. And when you get hit low, the ref is supposed to interject. And I'll counter your Floyd comment with more of the same.....you know only what your bias opinion lets you know.

My view: he dominated the first five rounds of the first fight, then Ward's subtler work - in conjunction with Kovalev's increasing imprecision, both of these things never really acknowledged by the experts you mention - won him the fight, three points up on my card. Most people overrate aggression in today's boxing; aggression must be effective to be scored, and Kovalev's second half of the fight was largely ineffective, whereas Ward's work was systematic and intelligent.

The second fight was not good from the start; Kovalev looked to me as nervous and - again - less precise in his work to begin with. The stoppage was indeed premature, but it was a matter of time; he would have been knocked out just the same. His mind was gone. In another frame of mind, he would have replied to those borderline blows with a shellacking of Ward. He just decided that he had enough instead.

                  In boxing why not.

You're still strong and in shape at 34, and boxing is a sport where experience and mental maturity are very important.

Especially in divisions over 160 pounds.

Yeah but you will never have guys in modern days on top at 45 like Foreman or Hopkins did in NBA or football, soccer.
Don't forget Holmes who beat Mercer in his 40s too, the list goes on...

34 is not old in boxing IF your not battle shot, especially at 175.

Boxing is a sport where you can be top athlete around 40 and shot at 25 like Vargas or Tyson lol.

The key about Kovalev is not is age but more his mental state (shot ot not) after back to back losses.

Hooray for Kovalev! I sincerely hope that he is finally getting his act together by stop being so stubborn, arrogant and conceited while learning how to listen to his new chief coach, trainer and corner man.

Additionally, I am glad to see that those two back to back losses to Andre Ward has really humbled him. Therefore, congratulations are in order as I wish him nothing but the best as he turns over his new leaf in life.
