You guys really think May 12th is ESPN’s date? GTFOH May 12th is Bob Arum’s F HBO date. Doesn’t take a genius to know Canelo will fight on The 5th of May. Re-airing the fight would always be that next week. Arum has his panties in a bunch because Nelson helped oust him from HBO. Now Bob being Richard (****) Petty wants to kill HBO’s viewership on the re-airing. He would be an idiot to go against Canelo on Cinco De Mayo but his emotional ass will hurt his own ratings to make Nelson look bad on some revenge BS. Bob is the worst kind of business man. This is because he is an emotional business man. He will kill the ESPN deal losing sight of his own ratings and focusing on Sabotaging HBO’s. Just like he lost HBO’s partnership focusing on sabotaging Al Haymon’s PBC instead of taking care of home. Arum needs to go!!! So tired of this old dude killing great matchups with his feline, fishy smell antics.

It seems that it's not that ESPN wants the NBA as a lead in the night of the fight, but that they want to be able to use those game 6's to hype the fight the next night.

Can't do the 19th as there is a game.

Arum is a promoter and therefore full of ****, but he may be telling the truth about ESPN wanting a big fight on 5/12. TR has very little control over what dates they're on ESPN. Kind of depends on when ESPN needs time filled.

Makes it very frustrating being a fan of boxing.

Boxing isn't ESPN's #1 priority (or even in their top 5), so there are limited dates that work well for ESPN that don't conflict with other major fights. If you change the date to 5/5, you go against Canelo-GGG. If you change the date to 5/19, you go against the Keith Thurman/Adonis Stevenson double header.

None of which changes the fact that 5/12 is the date ESPN wants boxing after the NBA playoffs. TR is at the mercy of the dates ESPN wants.
What about Fox Sports 1, ABC, spike, tbs, tv channel is meaningless if it's an good fight and it's free the fans will watch it on any channel. PBC had fights on bet and bounce. What about espn 2 or espn online. Ppl gotta think outside the box it's 2018. That's one thing I hate about boxing it's too old school. I am not in my 40s I always hated saturday night boxing. 1 it starts too damn late. One saturday night what are ppl doing my age? Having sex with our gf, looking for new cookies, clubbing, at the bar or already pissy drunk by 12. Boxing gotta switch it up. Throw it on a Monday or Thursday. I like how when u watch the European fights it shows around 5pm American time. That's so cool grab an pizza watch the fight then take a shower and hit the club. The UFC shows fights all week. But they also show more UFC fights at bars n clubs than boxing cuz they got the young crowd.

I used to defend Peter Nelson because at least he was demanding promoters make good fights if he was going to spend HBO's limited budget on them, but the last 9 months he hasn't even been doing that, so it's getting harder to defend him by the day.
So why don't you mention the 10 mill that Oscar offered lil g that would of made the fight sooner? Why does lil g fight the same exact way he did 5 years ago? So in reality the skill level remained the same but the completion got better in the last two that he lost but ALL OF THE SUDDEN he is "old"? GTFOH! EXCUSE AFTER EXCUSE ARE FOR SORE LOSERS.
