That is the date ESPN wants a big fight. There are only four Saturdays in a month. SHO, ESPN & HBO (in that order) are the major fight providers in the US. Boxing isn't ESPN's #1 priority (or even in their top 5), so there are limited dates that work well for ESPN that don't conflict with other major fights. If you change the date to 5/5, you go against Canelo-GGG. If you change the date to 5/19, you go against the Keith Thurman/Adonis Stevenson double header.

None of which changes the fact that 5/12 is the date ESPN wants boxing after the NBA playoffs. TR is at the mercy of the dates ESPN wants.

I used to defend Peter Nelson because at least he was demanding promoters make good fights if he was going to spend HBO's limited budget on them, but the last 9 months he hasn't even been doing that, so it's getting harder to defend him by the day.
Im starting to see why no one responds to you.

There WILL be NBA on that date. ESPN wants a big fight on after the playoff game ends on 5/12.

Since when is Linares the draw and A side in this fight? Loma and Arum are offering Linares a fight on that date, if GB and Linares don't want it that's on them. GB making Linares look bad, I'm just curious was GB demanding a 50/50 split and other stipulations when they would ship Linares to the UK to fight? Linares isn't making big purses with GB, 250k for his last fights and GB is acting like Linares is an A side in talks with Loma and Mikey. Now Nelson is saying they have rights to Linares next fight. Linares is getting screwed by GB and will end up fighting another fight nobody cares for in front of 2k people.

Everyone knows that ppv's usually replay a week after the fight. This is common practice and Arum knows. Ridiculous to suggest that Loma vs Linares can only be scheduled for May 12th. C'mon now.

ESPN gave Arum a bunch of dates. The May 12th and April 28th dates counter program HBO so... probably not wise for Bob to assume they will help him out with that. Still, I gotta hope they figure something out. ESPN 2? Deportes? Friday night?

So Loma calls out this dude on twitter, Bob calls in for a fight and HBO simply does not want to propose some other dates to make this fight in return and Lomachenko is a ducker. ohh ok
