I dont understand why people would want Castillo to be suspended...
He's a good fighter...He creates good matchups...Entertainment...the whole point of boxing...
He ****ed up...twice. He needs to move up and carry on though...
Boxing has finally ressurected itself...After so many years of the sport dying in fanfare, supposed "true boxing fans" are actually rooting on entertaining fighters to be suspended..??
Boggles the mind..

It's also extremely doubtful that the suspension/ban would actually follow through. And if it did, it wouldn't be enforcable outside of the US so if he wished to continue he could merely schedule bouts outside of the US.

After paying chico how is he going to support his fam of he is Ban or fired for 2 years
Well I can understand your point. 2 years maybe too harsh and Chico maybe being too sadistic but it's not him or us who's going to determine, it's the court buddy so don't worry about it.

Boxing history is full of incidents involving weight issues. But, I'm not aware of any, other than the one mentioned in the threadstarter, that was ever brought up for judicial action.
Time was when discrepancies in weight was resolved by the convenience of having the champion stripped of his title (if it is the champ who failed to make weight) or the challenger being refused the chance to wrest the title. Those, indeed, were simpler times; so simple that a 147 lbs. Sugar Ray Robinson thought nothing of facing a 157 lbs. Jake La Motta and a 142 lbs. Henry Armstrong didn't consider calling lawyers about the weight of the 153 lbs. Ceferino Garcia.
Today, boxing has become so complicated that we have seen world champions winning titles not in the ring, where those used to be won, but in proceedings in some state commissions or alphabet bodies, sometimes by force of a judicial edict or two.
Also today, a John Ruiz can go to court to demand payment from James Toney for some claimed slight. And to think he bills himself as, "The Quiet Man."
Am I alone in wishing that more of the action be left inside the ring than are brought outside of it? I'm sure I'm not.

I think Castillo should have to pay up to Corrales for money lost due to the cancellation. However I see it as completely wrong to suspend Castillo for 2 years. He needs to fight while he still can, he's in his prime and who the **** knows how he'll be in 2 years. He could devolp ringrust and end up losing to lesser fighters.
He needs to be able to fight so that he can earn money so that he can pay Corrales the money he owes him. That's it. Suspension for a few months? Sure. Suspend him for 2 years? No. Castillo would lose out on making money for his family, establishing his career post-Corrales, and we would all miss out terribly on the fights he "would have" had.
