Malinga hadn't won shít in years.
    Byrd? No.
    Pazienza?

    It's not that impressive.
I think GGG's ability is better than RJJ.
    Another fine comedy post.

Right, so if I asked you to list the best 10 SMW's of all time, Roy wouldn't be on it?

    Ha!

Go and start a thread and ask people to list the best SMW's of all time. I guarantee you that most people will have Roy in their top 2.

He beat Toney like nobody else ever did. Toney was coming off of a 3 round knockout over Tim Littles.

Roy beat Malinga with ease, who gave Eubank and Benn hard fights.

He won all of his fights at the weight without losing rounds.

The only reason he left the division early, was due to boxing politics which prevented him from fighting Benn and Liles.

Yes, if you look on paper, 6/7 fights isn't hugely impressive. But if you watched him closely and you can appreciate what you're looking at, then you would realise that Roy was one of the greatest fighters to ever fight at the weight.

You think that GG has more ability?

    Haha!

    Please!

How many A-level fighters has he beaten?

He sc****d past Danny Jacobs, and has just had a tough night against Canelo.

Roy was on another level to GG.

Tim Littles whose only belt was a USBA. A belt that Byrd won from a guy with a 9-2-1 record.
I am sorry, but Littles would get smacked around by Ian Gardner.
All Toney's good fights were either a draw, md or sd.

If Jacobs had fought RJJ, Jones would still have been in the ER.

        Oh my.

        You should be on stage.

You obviously never saw Tim Littles. You've had to look on BoxRec to see who he was. You obviously had no idea about his amateur pedigree or that he fought Liles twice etc.

Danny Jacobs would have put Roy in the ER?

That utterly ridiculous statement doesn't even dignify a serious response.

If you're not trolling for a joke, then you're absolutely clueless.

Actually he fought Liles thrice, in the amateurs and twice in the pros. Of those he has a 1-4.
Would Littles have beaten Ian Gardner?

              This is just madness.

YES, of course his physical decline contributed to him suffering 5 knockout losses.

              You can't be serious.

Again, he didn't just get knocked out because of a loss of confidence. He got knocked out because he COULD'T avoid the punches, due to diminished reflexes. Roy's whole style was based upon split second timing. How do you not know this? Those guys would never have knocked him out in his prime, because they'd never have been fast enough to have caught him.

You're talking about a guy who barely lost rounds in his prime, to getting knocked out by Green and Lebedev etc.

              Have a word with yourself.

Again, it's common knowledge that Roy's style was based upon his incredible athleticism. Once that was taken away, he was a sitting duck at the highest level. Which is why he either needed to retire early, or adapt to compensate for his age.
Nice to see a passionate debater like yourself in the mix here. Don't get confused though. I'm pushing back against the narrative that it was EXCLUSIVELY physical decline. Try and use common sense.

Stealthradon is clearly a 16-19 year old kid trying to talk about the 'head to head' greatest boxer of all time

I read one line and knew he didnt witness prime RJJ in the flesh.. Clear boxrec warrior you're talking too

Nice to see that you have no answer other than resorting to attacks. Real mature.

The question is how you define "the best". It could be based on the best resume - who the fighter actually beat. Or it could be based on the fantasy match-up, that exist in ones heads. Or you can say - based on ability. But this is subjective. Objectively Jones did not do enough to warrant ATG status. Not enough fights with another great opponents. But if you remember him fighting, you would have a really hard time picking against him in any fantasy match-up. That is if you being honest. He will beat all the great fighters in MW and SMW silly, due to the combination of speed, reflexes and power. And I firmly believe that pre-Ruiz RJJ would've beaten Tarver convincingly.

Roy's one win over Toney at SMW > triple Bum's entire career.
