Comments Thread For: Andre Ward's Coach on Bellew: If Offer is Right - Never Say Never

Virgil Hunter, trainer for former unified super middleweight and light heavyweight champion Andre Ward (32-0, 16 KOs), would not rule out the possibility of his boxer returning to the ring to face former cruiserweight champion Tony Bellew (29-2-1, 19 KOs) - if the offer is right. Ward, 33 years old, retired from boxing last year, a few months after gaining a stoppage win over Sergey Kovalev in their June rematch.

I'm a big Ward fan, but this is making him looked scared. Stevenson gets all kind of criticism for fighting tomato cans like Bellew. Why does he want Superman's leftovers??? If he wanted to prove he can be the best at cruiser he should have been in WBSS. Fighting and beating Bellew proves nothing. Nothing except Ward can beat bums the same as Stevenson. Superman KO'd this bum and has caught heat about it ever since. But Ward refuses to even mention Superman and instead retires hoping he can make some money on this tomato can Bellew at some point in the future.

There is no way to bash Superman for his opponents and then turn around and say the same guys are worthy of a fight with Ward. Unless its for a hw title, Ward should prove he is the best at 175. This hyping up Bellew is causing Ward to lose a lot of respect.

First it was Joshua, now we're on Bellew.

Speaking of which, it is incredible how a "win" against a disabled has-been heavyweight has gained a mediocrity such as Bellew fame, money and opportunities. A shame when one sees true, talented champions who struggle to make ends meet.

Bellew is trash, why would Ward even entertain to fight such a tomato can? Laughable

Bellew got beat by Cleverly IMO it tells a lot.

Ward doing what he has been doing all of his career. Fighting stiff euro dudes and some dumbs think he beat Roy in a fantasy match up.

But beating Kessler, Froch and Kovalev (they are arguably 1-1, a KO in the rematch doesn't make of the first fight a good decision) already cemented is legacy as an ATG so I guess beating Bellew would rank him just behing Ray Robinson.

Well don't sleep on Ward, his combo "headbutt, face first, balls punching" might give him a shot to even beat Deontay Wilder.

I heard Wilder has 4 kids outta 3 different women so I guess it would be safe to ask Ward to castrate D Wild.

No Bellew! Joshua or bust! Whatever the figure is to fight Bellew in the UK, it would triple for Joshua vs. Ward in the UK!
