Why does everyone love Anthony Joshua?

Everything about him besides his power is boring, he's stiff and robotic, lacks versatility in his offense, just not exciting. He has the personality of a rock, everything that comes from his mouth seems scripted, the guy just isn't exciting. The fact he's this massive muscular dude is what's appealing to his casual fan base (which is the majority of his fans). Put him with someone who's not Eddie Hearn who is willing to push him more then any other fighter and the result would be different, I'm sure he would have a lot of fans but no be as massive as a star.Comment

Not all Brits rejected Fury, just the ones who could see he's a fat oaf without much talent.
Joshua is a great talent and has fantastic work habits too.
People ****ing on about him being well marketed: You still need to be good to b well marketed. It should not be assumed that just because he has good promotion it follows that he's no good. Nope, you can have good promotion and also be good, two things can be true at the same time.
Anyway, I hope Fury comes back, so he can be exposed. I'd love to see him fight David Price tbh, it's a fight that can make them both huge money, and it is a tough one to call cos they're both ****.Comment

It's confusing now. Thread says he's popular, and asks why. Here you're saying he's really not. And I responded to a poster who says Sky and Hearn did a good job, and you're saying no they didn't. But he is probably the most marketable guy in boxing now. a HW champ that looks how he does and knocked everyone out so far
Hearn and Sky know that. AJ is a promoter and TV networks dream and that's why it's been so successful.
He has a great imagine, an incredibly powerful team and corporation behind him and he plays the game and acts "right" for the casual and mainstream audience.
of course he's a big part of it, he plays the role to a T but don't underestimate how powerful the marketing of Sky is when they have a commodity like AJ.Comment
