I dont get it rudimentary boxing skills, very rehearsed and see through persona, is it for no other reason that hes big and ripped and most heavyweights are fat?
Why does everyone love Anthony Joshua?

Not a fan of his myself but i think basically Sky and Hearn have done a great job of marketing him to the casual market. He also looks like a star and how the casual fan wants a boxer to look. All that, with the added bonus of the head start from winning an olympic gold in his home country. He is an easy sell to the casual audience.
In fairness to him, he's done his part too. 20-0 with 20 Knockouts and has beaten some decent contenders and faded Wlad and established himself as one of the best in his division.
That said, i also don't think he's a special fighter or talent. I don't think it's going to take an elite fighter to beat him, just a good one that performs very well on the night. It wouldn't be a shock to me if Parker beat him anyway.
He's a good fighter with marketability that outweighs his talent. Luckily for him, the HW division isn't that deep still, even if it's a bit more competitive than the Wlad dominated era.Comment

He isn't loved by everybody. He's loved by British people. He's loved by British people because he's British.Comment

Good well balanced post. Agreed on all fronts, apart from I do think he is a special talent. To be as good as he is and start boxing at the age of 18, and not really take it seriously until well into his 20's, I think that shows a lot of natural talent and self belief. Not a fan of his myself but i think basically Sky and Hearn have done a great job of marketing him to the casual market. Agree that he is not a special fighter though and never will be, you can't make up for those development stages missed during childhood, and adolescence, it's just not feasible.Comment

He produces knockouts, has been moved up in level at the right pace (maybe even a little fast) and has given fans their monies worth thus far.
I don't know why people call him fake, self admittedly he was bad news not that long ago. Maybe he's trying to change for the better? He's obviously done media training, again is there anything wrong with that?
Do you act like your real total self at your job? Or are you a reserved version of yourself?
I don't really pay too much attention to sports people's personalities. I judge them based on their performance, if they are a cool cat...bonus I guess.Comment

Perhaps there is bias against him for being a gypsy, or perhaps people don't like that he's a nutcase.
But Joshua is pretty much a promoter's dream. Great physique. Personable. Knocks everybody out. He's the unified heavyweight champion. What's not to like?Comment
