At least Anthony Joshua is known and does have a loyal casual fan base in the U.K. However, the very same cannot be said about Deontay Wilder in the U.S.

I could name at least 5/6 countries where boxing does better domestically than in the States > Britain, Germany, Russia, Japan, Mexico, Poland,
not saying fighters make more money in all those countries but boxing has less competition in those countries than in the States so a HW champ like Wilder would be a huge star in those countries (not that its happening in Japan or Mexico)Last edited by SteveM; 02-07-2018, 02:18 PM.Comment

And during that same time HBO had kicked Wlad to the curb and wasn’t even on US TV. It takes time to break through in the US. It took Floyd 10 years to break through. We aren’t as thirsty as the European countries.Comment

Wilder has defended his world championship on free network TV multiple times, garnering millions of viewers.
Wilder stars in a very popular cable TV reality show.
Wilder is clearly far more well known in this country than AJ is. Just as AJ is far more well known in his country.
The idea that nobody knows Wilder in the US is pretty silly considering his history as a strong ratings draw. Wilder's knockout of Stiverne went viral and helped make him far more well known as well.
Wilder is certainly no household name here in the US like Joshua is in the UKComment
