That's not true, Fury has a very advanced skill set for a man of his size, stylistically he is very different to the others in the weight class because of this.

However, I'm also not in the camp that lord's him as the saviour of the division, he's not been chin checked enough by good enough opposition, he was making waves just before the latest crop came up and his only notable opponent is really Wlad, so I don't see the merit to judge him above AJ, at most he is equally ranked based on history.

But, as I've said before, I think we already have seen the best of him, I don't see him making a real comeback now, he collect his cash ($3m for a tune up is big money) then disappear again.

Stripping him makes perfect sense. Yes he is making the apparent comeback but failing to schedule a bout despite being given a comfortable deadline at the end of January (he himself mentioned an April fight right?) says a lot. He is still in no position to enter a ring again clearly. Be it mentally or physically; if he was ready and wanted to come back to take what is his, then the notion of a deadline to pencil in a bout would have been swiftly dealt with.

As for his comeback, he is that far removed from elite level that the current landscape we have right now will he different by the time he gets back there, if he ever does, so there’s not much point discussing fantasy bouts with the current crop vs Fury right now. That being said, it would be annoying to no end to hear people say that a 2015 version of Fury would have iced everyone around currently, because it’s not true. We know it isn’t true. It only gets discussed because of how much Fury still throws his claim around as the lineal man and the most relevant man to have beaten Klitschko. He does have claim to these things of course, but what else? Can’t go on forever claiming it if you won’t show it. He said himself that his win over Klitschko signifies everything he ever wanted out of his boxing life so it stands to perfect reasoning that his career crashed right after it; he doesn’t really care, let’s face it.

He may come back and he will make big waves whatever he does, but this sport waits for no one. The ball needs to keep rolling and right now there is bigger and better things boiling up in the division than updates of fury’s comeback trail, let’s be honest. We could have a legitimate leader of the division in the next year, we don’t need to keep grasping at thin air whenever an article or Instagram clip comes out for every pound of fat that Fury loses.

      He deserved to be stripped.

It's better it be vacant than an out of shape, coked out Fury lose the belt against f&ckin' Shannon Briggs or somebody who's not even ranked.

Let Wilder & Joshua fight for it

You can't be stripped of the lineal belt.

You either lose it in the ring or OFFICIALLY retire.
        What lineal belt?

Except Joshua and Parker ARE fighting next month . There would be no rational reasoning why the ring belt shouldn't be on the line bc going by their OWN rules .

Joshua and Wilder are going to end up fighting for it regardless wheather its this year or next , whats the use or legitimacy of a belt when the person who they awarded it to Fury hasnt even fought since 2015 or defended a title ONCE to only postpone a champion further ? lol

They deemed Parker not good enough to have their Ring belt on the line but was o.k with Fury not fighting at all for years and him keeping it ? That is the problem and they look like fools .

Lmao he's the champ. Rookie. I can tell if your going by the espn rankings you just started watching boxing. The ring never rated at least clearly stated who was the lineal champ. I bet they have AJ number 1. But Fury is stil lineal if he returns. Mosley was lineal when he beat Margarito and he got busted with PEDs!

It's not something that was ranked! Like I said and other guy who responded to your dumb Lennox statement. It's an rule of thumb among the boxing community. You can Google the term and it will list the past and present lineal Champs and I bet Tyson is still on that list.

                    • Precedent here can be Muhammad Ali. He officially retired in 1970 paving the way for the 'unification' fight between Frazier and Ellis would be for the lineal title.

I cannot remember if Fury actually has claimed retirement at some point?
