    Yes.

    how was that fight?
It didn't happen because instead of matching the offer, HBO decided to spend the money on Kovalev vs. Hopkins because HBO believed Kovalev was more likely to beat Hopkins than he was to beat Stevenson.

You're leaving out something very important. Stevenson was a restricted free agent. He had an obligation to go out and get the best offer he could, then bring the offer sheet to HBO for them to match it. HBO wasn't going to bid against itself, so it was up to Stevenson to present them with an offer.

Stevenson couldn't force HBO to match and if HBO passed, he was obligated to Showtime.

If you were offered more money to fight for the WBA & IBF world titles or less money to fight for the WBO title, which would you choose?

Obviously the bigger fight for bigger money.

But in the end, it wasn't even Stevenson's choice because HBO held matching rights. All HBO had to do was kick in the 50k and Stevenson vs. Kovalev was guaranteed to happen. HBO faced a dilemma though. What if Stevenson wins? He would then be a complete 100% free agent and Kovalev would have been beaten.

HBO just wasn't confident enough that Kovalev could beat Stevenson. So they declined to make the fight.

Crazy how some people rate Stevenson. Very okay fighter with an excellent straight left hand...that's it.

One trick pony. Hasn't stepped up in competition in Y E A R S and is now like 37-38. He's like Rigondeaux without a signature win and only a mildly more entertaining style.

Why should he have fought him on HBO PPV when Showtime was willing to pay more for the fight than would have been made on HBO PPV?

In my opinion He's underrated on here and should be given more props then he receives

He's had one of the best runs in the last 3 years with Dirrel , Bute , Groves and Degeale( a fight he should have won ) he was basically the #1 at 168 and then moved up and beat Cleverly into retirement.

No matter how you feel about Adonis he's defacto #1 at 175 with the Ward retirement He's lineal and had his strap for like 4 years . Kov losing 2 straight and the rest of the guys ( Beterbiev , Bivol) are unproven

This is a true best vs best in my opinion and fans should be f.ucking hyped but of course hardcore fans only choose when they want the best to fight the best so they find reasons to sh.it on this fight

Wilder is worse than a one trick pony yet he gets the job done.

Sometimes one exceptional weapon can take your far.

Stevenson has a left hand but he always lands and when it does, it’s lights out.

I agree about Stevenson. He is number one until somebody knocks him off plain and simple.

I just don’t think much of Jack but lot of people are hyping this guy so I’m looking forward to see what he is really made of.

I don't like Stevenson, but one thing I notice about him is that he picks his opponents very carefully (hence, my disdain for him). He'll KO Jack. He took this fight because he knows he'll stretch him out.
