Thurman doesn't have the same hunger he once had ever since Collazo hurt him with a body shot. If you look at his record he has fought basically one time a year for the past 3 years since then which I guess is why they call him one time in the first place.

A unified champion taking a tune-up? Makes no sense regardless of injury he wouldnt be the first champion to obtain an injury and have to defend their belt but its whatever hes going to get away with it. I remember him calling out Danny Garcia and Garcia took one fight then accepted his challenge, now Spence is doing the same thing to him and hes making excuses he is not an honorable champion.

Well, you dont get that fighting once (or twice if he is fighting ****e opponents) a year before you are a star.

I get he was injured and no problem with a tune up or two, but 2 years to recover from surgery is excessive. Tune ups are supposed to be quick fights vs sup par opp. you squeeze in to get yourself back in the groove. You could take 5 tune ups in a year if you wanted.
Good points about "tune ups" imo.

Thurman really doesn't sound like a confident champion, does he?!

What's the big deal? Same thing Jacobs, Quillin, Cotto, Martinez, and many others said about fighting GGG, and most of these posters complaining now that their favorite Spence is being ducked were totally fine with it and even made excuses for those guys when they did it. Andre Ward likewise needed 3-4 tuneups at 175 before fighting Kovalev and that process took 2 years. Heck Danny Garcia did this EXACT thing to both Matthysse and Thurman, ironically enough, and TONS defended him the first time with Matthysse, and a decent number still defended him the second time with Thurman.

Also, many of these same posters complaining about Thurman now are the sames ones who defended Canelo and rooted for him to beat GGG even after waiting him out until he got old.

So basically, what goes around comes around sometimes. Two wrongs definitely don't make a right, and I don't support it, but all I'm saying is when you defend other boxers getting ducked because they're white or something so you don't care, eventually someone you like is going to get ducked too. Once you defend it enough in those cases that it becomes acceptable within the boxing community, then it will eventually spread to the boxers you like as well, because they will have heard all the excuses you made for all those other duckers, and they will think it's acceptable now, that they're just "being like Floyd," or whatever bull****.

Many Spence fans have earned this "duck" (and it's not even 1/10 as bad as all the others because Thurman is still actually going to fight this dude in his prime, UNLIKE all the other recent examples). Many Spence fans have directly contributed to this duck, or at least the culture of ducking in modern boxing that has given way to this duck. So y'all can keep complaining about this one since Spence is a boxer you like, and don't get me wrong that's helpful, but unless y'all actually start being consistent, and actually start calling out EVERY duck i the future no matter the skin color of the boxer being ducked, then this culture of ducking will continue and you're just going to keep seeing more of this. Ducking needs to be consistently exposed for it to become unacceptable in boxing again. You can't just complain about it today, but then defend it the next five times like y'all have been doing.

Keith "No Time for Spence" Thurman

He is thus crowned the new ducking king of boxing.

I thoroughly hope he isn't the one coming up with this and Haymon or someone is trying to postpone the fight because I've liked Thurman previously.

Like I said, he's not even ranked by the IBF, which is sketchy to begin with. Porter hasn't shown any signs of ducking anyone. If it were Mayweather or Garcia, I could understand, but Porter seems willing to fight whoever.
Actually, he made his point that there are only 2 fighters he was willing to face, Thurman and Garcia!

See where he coming from. Major elbow surgery best warm up on a top 10 contender, if he rematches porter later this year no complaints. The winner faces Spence no worries.

the guy fights once a year, he needs a tune up fight in 2018 and a mandatory defence or rematch in 2019, so they will probably meet in 2 fights sometime in 2020

Edit: Actually take that back I want to see Spence vs Thurman lol
Think about it Porter doesn't want to fight Spence now and if Porter beat Thurman both of them would agree to a trilogy easy just so they don't have to fight Spence, same thing with Thurman Garcia, if Garcia wins second fight you can guarantee a 3rd fight just to avoid Spence
