Well its a Hollow argument anyway . There werent any long term U.S champions during the Klitchkos era . What are you comparing Wilder too ? Chris Byrd ? Lamont Brewster ? As his more popularity .

Byrd was WBO for 7 months and Brewster was for two years and defended it 3 times . You dont even have the WBO in your user name ? lol

    Byrd was IBF about 3 years . Resulting in 3 UD / 1 SD / 1 Draw .

These guys title reigns doesnt scream WOW . I would hope a WBC champion with 38 K.Os is more popular ,particularly spending time on twitter a luxury they never had . loll

Correct. If Wilder is the most popular US heavyweight since Tyson and Holyfield, then we should be praising him for improving things since the days of Byrd and Ruiz instead of denigrating him for not being as popular as Tyson.

Well Wilder isnt popular even with social media . Hes out doing Byrd and Brewster ? This is not a big deal . Its really nothing to celebrate . He hasnt improved anything hes actually set it back ,if it wasnt for Joshua the division would be stale .

Wilder is a good additional back bone to the current cast but lets not go crazy , he still has Ortiz to get by ,his first real top level fighter . Im assuming he will . And if he doesnt its going to back fire on him big time.

Wilder's a bum who is only good enough to KO other bums. Once he finally get into the ring with a skilled HW who can punch, it's lights out for bum squad.

he also hasnt really fought an exciting/good opponent ... stiverne is his marquee win and thats not exactly uhhh.. much to get excited about.

wilder needs to fight and beat joshua to reach the next level. the ortiz fight will help him too, would be easily his best win despite ortiz i think being 40 years old?

wilder has got to get it going. his prime is going to be over before his career even really starts. he's 33 years old and its now or never for him, how good is he really? he needs to fight joshua soon

He has 600,000 followers on instagram. Parker has 150k. Ortiz has 77k. Whyte has 100k. Takam has 6k. Pulev has 70k. Miller has 35k. Povetkin has 70k.

Joshua has millions. I get that. Joshua is clearly the most popular heavyweight. By far.

But that doesn't mean Wilder isn't popular. He's clearly one of the most, if not the second most, popular heavyweight on the planet. Haters like to focus on the fact that Wilder isn't the greatest that ever lived, or the most popular that ever lived, instead of acknowledging that compared to most, he is doing great. There are worse things in life than being the #2 fighter in the world.
