    Underrated????

This is like the most hyped era of all time, "a PRIME TYSON KO's anyone, ever" Is a very common thing to hear. When a lot of people think of heavyweight they think of tyson and friends

Tyson was the Gem of that Era and the main reason why people were so intrested.Lewis was the Best one out of that Bunch.Holyfield was the most talented coming from Cruiserweight brilliant era.Remember those days. The level of intrest in Boxing in the US those times were unmatched

Something about the 70s - early 00s. Everything was just better. Music, cars, films and fights. Even the grainy picture quality of the fights added to their gritiness. Now you have fights and movies in 4K, better production values but everything is sisified for millenials.

The 90s definitely had a really deep talent pool in the HW division and alot of them fought on USAs Tuesday night fights or ESPN on Thursdays night fights. That's something I really miss is fights twice a week almost every week. I have tubs of VHS tapes from those shows.

well it was a whole let better than this current heavyweight era thats for sure. Got a windmiller with no technique, a bodybuilder with a delicate chin and an old man rumoured to be 48 years old as the top 3 heavyweights.

Well its young division ...there were many matches in the 90's that never happend or happend past the point when they should have . You wont see that in this era bc everyone is on the same page and Don King isnt around . There wasnt an undisputed champion until 9 years when Lewis defeated Holyfield in 1999 . So really that entire era went without one ,yet we will have one this year . And people wonder why i tell them they dont know what their talking about .

The 90's was the best era ,bar none . However you cant judge this one yet most of the guys arent even in their primes . Give it time to fully develope ,we have 3 undefeated championships.I think that in itself makes the era unique already and at least their fighting eachother sooner than later . With social media fights will happen.

It is very important to pay attention to the attitudes at the time. For example, as Juggs said, Lewis was thought of, for most of his prime, as a guy who was lacking, who had no heart. Bowe was indeed the guy who everyone looked up towards. Tyson had set a high bar initially by getting through the ranks on a tare... People were mesmirized by Tyson. As a matter of fact he was thought to be, for a while, unbeatable.

Yet as we stand here today, many decent fighters from that era are not mentioned. For example, Razor Ruddock, who almost beat Tyson twice, and who was very competative. The ranks were swollen with guys like Whitaker, Witherspoon, Bruno, etc. So talent ran deep through the eighties and nineties.

We will see some great fighters emerge from this group as well... but people have to be objective and not assume things about ability. There are plenty of talented fighters emerging. Time in boxing is like water in cooking...that magic ingredient that seems to just bring all things together when used judiciously!

Can you imagine Joshua not fighting Wilder ?

Or Wilder dumping the belt in the trash and refusing to fight Joshua over petcentages like Bowe did ?

This era would have a heart attack . lol

I can confidently say this era is vastly stacked right now , wait until 2 years from now with the emergence of Dubois , Sirenko , Morrison , Hrgovic , Gormon etc ........these are high level DANGEROUS fighters in their own way .Possibly Usyk .......though i have doubts how his power carries over .

                    Very strong era developing .

The 90's era really is a map out of this one. I really think this will be the most formidable group . I dont believe there have beenso many olympic stand outs either all at once ?

One of my favorite fights on tuesday night fights was Golota vs Samson Pa'uha , when Golota bit that guys neck and rallied back with his white trunks covered in blood ...these are the characters which made the 90's great . lol

Agreed. When people become more familiar with the fighters it will change a lot of that... Hopefully. Lol I remember that fight as well, something about biting at that time, necks, ears...
