Comments Thread For: Schaefer: Garcia vs. Lomachenko Needs To Build - It Will Be Huge!

Promoter Richard Schaefer of Ringstar Sports believes the potential showdown between Mikey Garcia (37-0, 30 KOs) and Vasyl Lomachenko (10-1, 8 KOs) needs at least another year or so to properly build into a huge match. At some point this year, both Garcia and Lomachenko could find themselves fighting in the same weight division.

Team Garcia will tell Loma "Come to 140 or no fight unless you offer a big purse to make this fight at 135". But I´m sure for both it will be the first PPV bout.

doubt it will ever be huge, not in terms of a crossover event anyway. Just make the damn fight.

if the fight gets made and loma beats garcia which is far from a foregone conclusion..I don't think any loma hater can come out and say anything negative just shut up or give him his due credit as p4p no 1..I have garcia in the p4p list..loma should be recognised and certified as p4p no 1 if he steps up and beat garcia

If Loma beats Garcia, he'll be P4P #1 on my list, that is unless Crawford beats Thurman or Spence Jr.!

Couldn't have said it better myself. These guys think if they win a couple of titles it makes them PPV stars. Their promoters try to tell everybody that they are already big stars. Outside of boxing fans, nobody knows who they are.

"Well you know, I've put together many, many fights with [Lomachenko's promoter] Bob Arum." I guess Schaefer has forgotten how many times he told De Hoya and the media that he refused to work with Bob Arum. This guy is an oil slick.

At the moment they look like a father with his young son .The snake is only stating the obvious. It may or may not be viable as Garcia still has lots of room in there.

Schaefer is my boy, but idk how you make Loma vs Garcia HUGE any time soon.

Loma hasn't really caught fire despite his ability to juggle uncooked hotdogs, do his dads taxes & take a sh^t all at the same time & Garcia is maybe the most sellable Mexican who's not really selling yet & he's 30 now & might have 2-3 yrs left at the top of his game.

They just need to fight each other & the guy who wins has potential to be in HUGE fights at a future date, but largely I think HUGE & lil guys are an oxymoron. HUGE for lil guys is a 300k buy PPV.
