Since the last update, only one of the top four fighters on the list stepped into the ring. In early December, Vasyl Lomachenko silenced the Cult of Rigo, overwhelming the Cuban maestro and forcing him to quit after six rounds.

"NO MAS"-Loma separated himself from the rest of pack in 2017. He is the right choice and probably #1 P4P. GGG would been tied with Loma if he had gotten a clear decision vs Canelo.

Mikey Garcia at #3, but Crawford ahead of GGG? Clearly this list is not using any set standards. Either you use eye test, which puts Loma ahead of Garcia, or you use resumé, which puts GGG ahead of Crawford, and Lomachenko ahead of Crawford at least and maybe GGG as well.

Just a really confusing, possibly biased list in my opinion. I will be paying more attention to other lists from now on because whoever the panel is for the boxingscene lists and awards these days is not up to the standards that boxingscene was known for years ago. But hopefully y'all can eventually get it back to that standard and be the best in the business again. Right now though, it's just all over the map. Joshua FOTY for a popularity contest and because he makes money? Crawford and Mikey both rated way too high relative to the foreign boxers likely as a way to try to hype the next American and Mexican ticket sellers?

P4P should be about who is honestly the best. It should not be a tool to try to do promoters jobs for them and overhype their next money fighters for them. And boxingscene should not be employing writers who see it as their jbos to do that in the first place. It should be employing writers who simply love the sport and want to be fair about who the best boxers are and which boxers are actually willing to fight the best, because those are the ones who actually deserve promotion and will ultimately create the legendary careers, the hype that surrounds TRUE, unmanufactured, unfaked greatness, and the big matchups that make the most money anyway. Boxingscene should hire writers that care about the sport and therefore feel a natural instinct to promote boxers who love the sport and help the sport. But artificially elevating Mikey Garcia to #3, when he retired for 3 years of his prime and has hinted in the past that he doesn't love the sport and that he just fights for money, is overhyping someone for no reason who clearly doesn't even have the attitude that will help the sport!

Why go out for your way to promote someone who isn't even good for boxing? I get that he's Mexican but if you're not good for boxing then you're not good for boxing, regardless of your nationality. A top boxer who loves boxing and wants to be great will always create more big fights and generate more money for the sport, even if he's Ukrainian and barely speaks English, than a boxer who doesn't, even if he's Mexican or American. If a writer doesn't understand this, then he shouldn't be writing for a great boxing website like boxingscene.

Hahaha! Terence Crawford at number one is a stretch. I realised we are being trolled when I saw Mikey Garcia at number three. The list just gets worse from here. Juan Francisco Estrada? Badou Jack? Whoever made this list should be put on gardening leave.

Badou Jack in the ten? Seriously? There are a wealth of names more deserving. First and foremost is Usyk.

            1.) Gennady Golovkin
            2.) Terence Crawford
            3.) Vasyl Lomachenko
            4.) Saul Alvarez
            5.) Keith Thurman

After that it gets hard and pretty subjective.

Golovkin is an interesting case study. Never has a fighter been given so much for doing so little.

Saul Alvarez? The guy is special, no question about it, but Oleksandyr Usyk is #4. He is a technically and athletically superior boxer relative to the majority of that list.
