Hard to really say when he became mandatory because of all the bull**** with WBA and all it's belts. Ortiz became interim champ in Oct 2015 which is when he got the number 1 ranking, but then you had Chagaev and regular champion, so is he the mandatory or Ortiz?

This mess led to the WBA creating a mini-tournament with the winner of Ortiz/Ustinov to become mandatory and to fight the winner of Fury/Wlad. But as Ortiz pulled out of that fight he never became the official mandatory until the WBA ordered Joshua face Ortiz in July 2017. Ortiz was then stripped of his mandatory status in Nov 2017 for failing his drug test.

The whole grey area of if the regular champion or the ranked number 1 fighter by WBA is mandatory makes it really hard to define how long he was really mandatory.

The only logical reason is he fancies his chances more against Wilder.
probably beleives he can win against wilder and take that belt and sell it to AJ for alot more.

You can twist it as much as you want. Ortiz had already removed himself as mandatory by fighting for the belt against wilder, he had already signed to fight him last year (or have you forgot that). Once that fight started he would no longer have been mandatory. As it was he failed a drugs test. Can hardly argue with him removing for that either.

The reason he isn’t and is fighting wilder instead is his choice, it’s obviously not a financial one as he gets a lot less. You would assume he thinks he has a better chance against wilder to go that route.
I think it was a financial decision on Ortiz's part. He's willing to fight Wilder for less, knowing once he has the WBC belt he can get a bigger cut of the Joshua pie than the 25% he would of got as mandatory. It's an audacious move, he must be really confident that he can beat Wilder. If he does then his decision makes great financial sense.

Nobody claimed to know more than anyone else. There are plenty of people that post on this site with more experience, power and knowledge than we have.

What we've claimed is that we know more than you, which is hardly a bold claim since your experience, power and knowledge is nonexistent. You're just a big fan. Which is great. The sport needs more fans like you. You're dedicated and passionate. But you have no way of knowing what is true and what isn't. You simply believe what your favorite fighter's promoter tells you. You have no experience or knowledge that would allow you to know the difference between him lying or telling the truth.

You view it as a boast for us to admit that we've worked in this business for many years and have relationships with the sanctioning bodies. It's not a boast. It's nothing to boast about. This is a dirty dirty awful business run by dirty dirty awful people. Working in the fight business is nothing to be proud of or boast about. We're simply explaining why we would have more insight on certain subjects than some others might.

There you go again talking down, but no proof in sight. Sad little man pretending to be something you're not.

Do any posters actually fall for it? I haven't seen any, but i'm sure there must be some.

You answered your own question. He's been the mandatory since 2015. The only thing that's muddled is why they gave Wlad the WBA title after he lost it.

He doesn't even know what he's lying about. It's because you've confused yourself with your own lies you Joshua and Hearn **** blower.

                  • One thing is certain.
                    Joshua is no Stiverne.

But then why did he have to fight Ustinov for a mandatory shot if he was already mandatory?

The sanctioning bodies seem to make up the rules as they go sometimes to suit their purposes.
