Why did Ortiz choose to fight Wilder over Joshua?

He had a guaranteed shot at Joshua which would have bagged him about 10x what he'll make against Wilder and a shot at being HW king.

The only logical reason is he fancies his chances more against Wilder.

Didn't he try to get a fight with Joshua but settled for Wilder because Joshua chose to fight that can instead?

        simple answer

ortiz had a date for a wilder fight

ortiz didnt have a date for a joshua fight.

he signed with the same promoter and didnt get a joshua fight.

he became wba mandatory and they fought the ibf mandatory

he did what any man would do, stop waiting and take your career into your own hands.

if this champ is making me wait, ill fight the champ thats ready now.

But no guarantee of when it would take place. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

False. Stop acting like you have any understanding of boxing economics.

Only a ****** or afraid man would walk away from a 8 mil+ payday for an under 1 mil one because he doesn't want to wait a few months.

It was going to happen in 2018, it was guaranteed.

I have far more understanding than you.

              Boxing "insiders" though

Parker is making over 12 for a 30% split. How much you think Ortiz would get for a mandatory fight? It's rumoured Takam made 6. I'm the idiot?

38 year olds definitley have alot of time to wait

gonna happen in 2018? oh cool! that could be any month....and with joshua/hearns stall tactics that means it could basically be a year.....38 year olds def have alot of time to wait....sound logic robbie! hey man lets be a fan of fighters ducking fights to wait it out for a golden goose(its funny robbie i always remembered you as an anti golovkin guy....you seem to be championing his cause now)....ortiz has the mentality that he will beat both of them......no shame in that
