But, I must say that Wilder's career was going much better, management wise, when Golden Boy handled him. Haymon simply has too many fighters to focus his efforts on making 1 of them a megastar

Originally posted by KingHippo View PostWhites, principally Americans, have an inferiority complex when it comes to boxing. Black athletes have dominated the heavyweight division for years, which has been, and still is, seen by many as the pinnacle in fighting sports. If Wilder was white, there would already be a cult forming around him, no doubt about it. He's too much of genetic freak not to have been. Whites Americans will go crazy for any white fighter that shows the slightest show of promise since they have something to prove.
At the end of the day, it's all tribal. Boxing is very primal and divided among ethnic lines. People out of tribal instinct will always have more of an affinity and sympathy towards those they see as belonging to the same group.
Cool bro, way to negate any and all of your opinions on the matter - the fact is if just 10% of the black fans who support Mayweather came out to support Wilder, he'd be much, much more famous. But I suppose they are racist against Wilder too

Or is that just because that was back in the 70s and 80s and 90s, you know, when the country was so much less racist than 2017 where white people are so much more racist?
Y'all don't even make ****ing sense. Y'all keep having to invent new theories to fit your victim mentality, like the other poster above you with his ridiculous white Americans-white Brits telepathy theory about how Joshua is more accepted by white Americans due to osmosis with white Brits... are you ****ing kidding me?? LOL. Y'all keep having to invent new theories to fit your victim mentality, and they just get more ****** every time because of how reality gets less and less like how y'all perceive it every year. America has never been less racist than it is now. it is one of the least racist nations on the planet in 2017. It's not perfect, but American racism is not the reason that cherry picking Haymon boxers of ALL races get no respect. Mikey Garcia isn't getting much either because he keeps cherry picking. Neither did Danny Garcia. It's the same story over and over. The few who have actually tried to fight the best, and been good enough to win, like Spence and Thurman, have actually gotten the respect that DSG and Wilder didn't, and that's for a reason, but even they have barely fought any top opponents.
That's just a fact. Stop inventing ways to blame things on race. Wilder is in his 30s and has never fought a top opponent. That's the issue.

A: Wilder says he isn't getting any media attention
B: Main reason being he has only fought bums which don't garner much media attention
C: Whether or not it is his fault or not is irrelevant to the discussion, as we aren't discussing his supposed greatness but rather lack of media attention / popularity (so with no big named fighters comes no media attention)

Nothing to do with race IMHO. Boxing just isn't as big as it once was. Why follow a sport where top contenders and title holders now take years to fight when the UFC has the best fighting the best within months, if not, weeks? And when fights do happen it's 50/50 if the actual winner gets the decision.
