Come on now. I get the point that your a big Mexican fight but you cant be so unbiased. Everyone knows he shouldve won that fight if it wasnt for a idiot like Steele who stops a fight with under 10 seconds left. He knew it had to be near the end of the round and the 10 second light came on at the top of the rope where a official is supposed to be trained to see. No one wouldve stopped that fight except for a idiot like Steele -
Cotto was losing until he won round 11 and 12, and was not taking the feather fist of Malinaggi real well either.Originally posted by MR. Vim not backing anybody here, but how did MR. world champ miguel cotto go 12 rounds with a nobody named paulie malignaggi. cotto couldnt even knock him out. how ***in sad is that. point being i wouldnt call paulie a piece of **** only after i see him step in the ring with u , then ill judge who the bigger piece of **** is.

Malignaggi did better than most expected and even the crowd was backing him at the end. Thats strange the crowd was totaly for Cotto than they switched sides.Comment

Honestly no b/c Hatton would smother Pauli more than Pauli did to Cotto and he goes to the body as good as Cotto. Castillo, well if he makes weight would fight a much better fight than Cotto in that at some point of tonites fight Cotto just sat back and waited whcih Pauli capitalized in. Castillo would not let him capitalize and if he hurts pauli he would get rid of him fast.Originally posted by DLTFor your last paragraph. Featherfisted or not, there is still no one at 140 who will be as big and hit as hard as Cotto. Hatton weighs alot but doesnt hit like Cotto. Castillo could be good but he still wont be as big & forceful as Cotto, so could Paulie beat those guys even with being featherfisted?Comment

Done typing up synopsis on this fight, but bottom line Cotto was unimpressive and Paulie actually suprised me. Cotto is way way overrated, he will fall to any good 140 or 147 pounder/Comment

I think Cotto did a good job in there with a slick boxer who did quite a bit of holding. I had it 8 rounds to 4 with one KD advantage for Cotto. Plus, Cotto hurt his left hand in the 7th round (you could hear him tell the corner) and had to lay off it for the rest of the fight. Had he been able to fully utilize his left he might've KO'd Paulie. How ironic is it that Cotto hurt his hand in this fight?Comment

LOL NO! It was pro Cotto at the end. The mid rounds you heard the Italians more to try to up Pauli's spirit but it was pro Cotto for the most part.Comment

I'm one of the least biased people on this site..
I love boxing..as a whole...
The cotto fight didn't do much to establish a stronger reputation for Cotto, IMO...His power is crazy at Jr. Welter( I.e. Maliganggi's Jaw), yet his overall boxing skills were average...
For such a prospect as an amatuer fighter, I would think he would be more of a Boxer-puncher instead of a complete bully brawler...
Malignaggi gets respect for his toughness and sportsmansip...but he was too inexperienced...He looked so raw in there...over anxious and out of his element...he did alright...3-4 rounds won at most..
Overall, it was a pretty good fight...I'd like to see some more top tier fights for Cotto before I truely judged his skill level and promise in the sport...Comment
