It was not Rigondeaux's weightclass evidently and whilst disappointed with the outcome I still learnt a great deal from these 6 rounds between the elite of the elite.

In the ring:
Lomachenko 137.4, Rigondeaux 130 pounds.
Whereas vs. Salido, Lomachenko was 11 pounds lighter. And he got a bunch of low blows. Yet he went the distance, he didn't quit. And that split decision could easily have been in his favor.
Need I say more, to those using the weight difference as an excuse for Rigondeaux's incompetence vs. a fighter who is a gazillion times better than him? And most of all, those who dare justify the cowardice of quitting after the 6th, to avoid an imminent KO loss and being embarrassed and exposed even further, what's the justification for that, when before the fight his fans and Rigo himself were saying that he would KO Loma?Last edited by sterilizer; 12-11-2017, 12:06 AM.

And not just what he proved in the Rigo fight - in general.
If you don’t think he is a great boxer, tell me: why?
Cheers.

I wanted to see it, I'm glad I saw it, but the result of the fight is explained fairly simply:
Rigo was too small and just too old.
He couldn't effectively try to hold or rough Lomachenko up once he realized he was tactically outmatched because he was just too small to even hang on, so in short: there was nothing Rigo could do to win that fight.
Rigo didn't do himself any favors though. I think in the moment he felt quitting was a better move than getting stopped. That depends on how you look at it though.
Loma vs. Garcia next!!
