Joshua chose to defend the IBF title first. Was Ortiz supposed to just sit back and wait?

He looked better because Joshua just isn't that good.

A few years earlier and the big stiff Joshua would have been a tailor made opponent for Wlad.

A few months for over triple the money? Why not, unless you wanted the easier option in Wilder.

He wanted a title. Why not fight Wilder and beat him then unify against Joshua? He could then get a bit more money as opposed to just being a mandatory. C'mon Robbie you're smarter than this

Because if he won the title there's no guarantee for the Joshua fight. He had a guaranteed shot at the best in the division and a great payday. He chose Wilder instead.

You're right that there is no guarantee, but if Joshua and Hearn are to be believed then the fight would happen as they say they want to unify. Plus it would of given Ortiz a strap and put pressure on the other side to make the fight. A fight with Ortiz seems like it would be a heck of a lot easier to negotiate than Wilder or Parker

If he had gone the Joshua route and won he also could demand whatever he wanted in a rematch and they'd have to give him it. No rematch clauses in mandatory defences.
