I hope Rigo puts on a clinic so we can put to rest who the best defensive boxer of this generation is.

Good post. I agree with you on the whole 126 lb fight saga. Rigo tried to get cute, lost the opportunity, then had to accept this fight years later at a higher weight. But although you make a logical argument for everything else, I’m not sold.Loma never offered to go to 124, he agreed to 126. Rigo came back with an ok on 126 with a rehydration clause of 134, which Loma agreed to. Then Rigo pulled out making a couple of statements, one that he didn't feel comfortable at 126 after all, and also discomfort about the money.
I guess Rigo was banking on other opportunities coming up, but they never did, so now he's back with Loma at an even higher weight, with inactivity having stacked up and a couple years older.
I for one would be shocked if Rigo won. I don't doubt how good he was for one second, but that's past tense now, he's older and he's visibly lost a step. Rigo showed he was a class above Donaire at Donaire's preferred weight of 122, but remember how Donaire couldn't carry his (pre Rigo) power/dominance at 122 up to 126 ? Then remember how Walters blamed inactivity for his poor showing against Loma ? Rigo has been far more inactive than Walters was. add in the weight and age factors, and Rigo winning (or even looking good) would be a shock.
Rigo is physically past prime. I don’t think there’s any arguing that. How far past prime is the real question. You say he’s visibly lost a step. I don’t see it. It’s true some fighters don’t carry their power up, but some do. And as for Rigo’s inactivity, we won’t know until the fight how much that’ll affect him. I don’t blame you for picking Lomo, I have too, but the more I examine this fight, the more hopeful I become for Rigondeaux.Comment

Lomachenko is already the most overhyped fighter since ggg,& if he beats yet 1 more fighter that hes making move up the ******ed fanbois are already ready to proclaim him the greatest. Just like imbecilic Arum saying hes the best since Ali.

yes, the nerve of Bob not being willing to lose millions of dollars on a fighter who cant sell 20 tickets but was demanding million dollar paydays.......Comment

2 gold medals > 1 gold medal in the river. So Arum is rightComment

He ruined Bob's potential star in Donaire and after that Bob was smearing Rigo one of his own fighters at the time instead of promoting. When you have real p4p talent in your stable you dont treat them the way Arum did. Do you really think Arum thought Rigo would win when he made the Donaire fight?Comment

So Arum tells you what you do and do not like? If you are still buying what Arum is saying you have got to be new to the sport or just love the old man so much no matter what he lies about. I was not at all bored with that fight at all. Everyone knows Bob was grooming Donaire as his next Pacquiao Rigo handling him with ease derailed that potential gravy train. After that fight Arum stops promoting Rigo and starts bad mouthing him all he could.Thats the craziest myth i think ive ever heard that Arum punished Rigo for beating donaire. First of all Donaire wasnt some huge cash cow like Pacquiao or Cotto. Second of all Arum saod it was because he had a boring style that Hbo and the fans did.nt like and it was true. Lets just say for argument sake that rigo was an exciting fighter, what sense would it make to shelve an exciting fighter who just beat donaire? Obviously it had to be something other than a punishment because if Rigo were a draw and exciting you can bet Arum would have wanted that money bagComment

That will be interesting to see because we know that no amount of boos will make a top Cuban boxer deviate from his plan, Rigo will maintain his "discipline" at all times.Comment
