I had a look at his style over the years, and a few years back he didn't need a guard as his foot speed back and forth was faster than the other guy could throw, even without head movement. A lot of the rest or his arsenal hardly got used as he didn't need it.

Since then his stance has widened, a bit like I notice Haye's stance has widened now he's got older (not comparing the two of course, just something I've noticed comes with getting older with some boxers). He still has a lot of his speed, but with the widened stance he can't move back as fast as he used to. Not to say he can't compensate with head/body movement and/or a guard, but he has to start using tools he didn't use so much in the past.

Pretty sure Rigo will ignore the weight and just train to whatever weight he feels most effective at, and will be interesting to see what weight that is - but maybe he'll guzzle some water before the weigh-in just to fool Loma that he's genuinely at 130.

Good observation. You’re probably right. Rigo is 37. He simply isn’t in his physical prime anymore. No man is at that age. Some, like Hopkins, manage to retain enough of their ability to compete at a high level, but a human’s physical prime ends sometime before Guillermo’s current age. He must be compensating in some way. I just can’t see it. It’s usually not visible to the naked eye until it gets much worse, or until it’s evidenced in the ring against a good enough opponent.

You might be right about the weight as well. I was thinking along those lines. Rigo definitely looks fuller. I’m curious to see what he weighs. I’m wondering how the gain has been assimilated. Even a few pounds can adversely affect the performance of a finely tuned athlete who’s been fighting at a certain weight for a long time. Either Rigo put the weight on early and allowed time to acclimate, or he simply didn’t put on much at all. To my eye, Guille doesn’t look like he’s gained more than five pounds.

They demanded the [financial] amount that was required, and we agree with them about it. They made a demand that on the morning of the fight, my weight does not exceed 62.5 kilograms [135-pounds give or take]. I agreed. But now they told us that they are not ready to stage this fight, now they do not want to fight," Lomachenko said.

27-year-old Ukrainian Vasyl Lomachenko, who holds the WBO world featherweight championship, says WBA/WBO junior featherweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux of Cuba, 34-years-old, has refused to fight him. The two Olympic champions have been trading messages on the social networks, calling each other out to fight.

Yes, I know at first Loma said at 126, but then he agreed to cw and rehydration clause. Rigo kept shouting how he wanted this fight at 124 with rehydration at 135. Loma finally said ok, and Rigo did not mention him again for over a year. I don't think Rigo was scared, but he is with Caribe the worst "promotional" company EVER. These guys are jokes, and they wasted Rigo's career. Loma again agreed to a rehydration clause to get this fight.

Rigo did finally accept the fight, but he demanded a rehydration clause again. This time it is 138 pounds, at 9 am the morning of fight night.

I'm not saying Loma immediately agreed, but it was Loma's manager Klimas who made the offer, Rigo made his demands, and Loma accepted. Then radio silence from Caribe. God dang, how many times has Rigo fought in the last five years??? He is/was one of the best fighters on the planet, but he had a chance to fight Loma before but didn't want to move up. He could have fought him at 126 anytime until this year.
He never agreed to any CW.

Picking Rigo by close decision. I think Loma will have a hard time getting close enough to do his thing. Geared up for this weekend!!
No kidding- I'm looking forward to this one!
