I can say how mayweather and pacs best wins were either vs weight drained or past prime fighters, or how they received generous decisions. At the end of the day, cotto will go into the hall of fame and every single top fighter that he's fought has named him as one of their toughest fights, even in loses.

    excellent post !!

'all time label' i nearly spat out my sandwich. From watching cotto over the years all he was great at was losing his biggest fights, and often badly.

Cotto was good and he did fight many of the best. However, he won exactly one really meaningful fight, against Mosley. Sure, one of his losses was to plasterito and another to a juiced up Pac, but he never won the big ones. Because he wasn't some all time great. He just wasn't. He was great, but he wasn't ready for Floyd when it mattered and when he finally realized Arum wasn't letting him, Floyd fought Cotto's fight and Cotto's weight and still won. Losing to Canelo and his final fights do not matter, it is his losses in his prime that do.

It is shameful that boxing allows someone like Cotto to get beat with plaster and to fight an opponent on Ivan Drago shakes that undoubtedly will contribute greatly to permanent, irreversible brain damage. But since it was Floyd that brought it to everyone's attention, everyone just acted like it didn't matter. When he is stuttering like Holyfield and shaking like Roach or Ali, it will matter to Cotto. Ain't no fan, and ain't no Arum gonna do anything to fix that. He wants to go out with a win over Ali, that's fine. Boxing gave Cotto fame and fortune... and CTE.

Cotto is a HOFer not cause of his record but cause of his work ethic resume and what he gave back to the sport he is an ambassador for Puerto Rico and boxing. Anybody talking down is an idiot a hater or hasn't been around boxing long enough. Prob Just a fkng baby hater who just started watching the charlo sisters and thinks that's Boxing

I agree Mayweather and Pacquio did that too and that's exactly the plan Cotto followed... he has admitted to that on camera... he has said "Mayweather and Pacquiao did it to me when they were the A side".... now a days very few fighters face the best and the ones that do, do not retire with a perfect record... take for example Orlando Salido, the most underrated boxer of this era... has fought everyone there is to fight and has caused major upsets on a lot of champions, up and coming young prospects and veterans....
What cotto has admitted to was using his leverage as the A side in negotiations with his opponents. The same way he had to get the short end of the stick vs pac and Floyd. If you don't consider cotto to be among the best of his era, then you're probably just hating and as I said, anyone can run down the career of any top fighter if you're petty enough. I saw on another post how you said you considered Marquez to be great. Now, I don't necessarily agree with the following, but watch how I can **** on Marquez hall of fame career. - his career was made mainly on 4 fights with pac and his record was 1-2-1 in those fights. And if you consider that had a judge scored the 1st round correctly in his 1st fight draw with pac, he would've lost that fight too. And in his 1 win vs pac he was getting whooped until he landed the ko punch which many attribute to steroid use. His best wins otherwise were vs a version of barrera who already went through a brutal trilogy with morales (& barrera should've gotten the decision after being cheated out of a legit knock down & wrongfully having a point taken away). Then vs casamayor who was already beaten 3 times and old, and then Juan Diaz who was already exposed and ruined by nate Campbell. Otherwise he was schooled by Chris John, shut out by Floyd, and out boxed by Bradley. See how easy that was?

Cotto is truly a HOFamer. A lot of hypocrites support Margarito the hand wrap cheat or Marquez the drug cheat. A lot of posters who think their fav fighters are so perfect. Some even calling Cotto a diva and yet for many of these people they fail to see that their own fav boxers are the real divas. So to those who say that Cotto is not a HOFamer, keep on telling that to yourself.
