but between rounds i'be about the same way as him, i'm sure not gonna be complimenting lacy.... "what great technique he has", "he's got a nice build" lol

And Wharton was actually expected to beat both Benn and Eubank beforehand! People thought that Benn/Wharton was going to be a complete war, and that Wharton's superior chin would win him the day. People thought that Eubank would be totally out-worked and some even said that Wharton would win by a large margin.

Wharton was to Benn and Eubank what Lacy was to Calzaghe. Benn proved he could box, it was the finest performance of his career. And Eubank put in the best performance of his career to shut his critics up big style.

Benn/Wharton was originally hyped up in 1991, Wharton was punching guys out of the ring and Britain wanted to know who was the most exciting puncher in a South vs North battle of punches. But Benn waited a few years, set his gameplan out, and to the suprise of everybody out-boxed that Yorkshire gypsy to pieces.

Calzaghe battered Lacy that fight and its no good saying that if lacy had hit him with a good combo. It's all 'ifs' and i think its unfair on calzaghe because he done brilliantly against a loudmouth ****.

Wharton was WBC 168 #1 contender, but Benn chose to defend against Nicky Piper instead. Lou Gent even got a shot at the title on the strength of his draw with #1 contender Wharton. The Northerners thought that the ****ney bigshot was ducking their Henry.

Then why did you pick Lacy to beat Calzaghe? Stop being a Monday morning QB. You, like everyone else here, expected Lacy to be a tough fight for Calzaghe. You picked Lacy to beat Calzaghe, just like myself and most of this board.

Lacy looked "awful" against Reid? How's that? He demolished him.

I said that Calzaghe at his best would absolutely anihilate Lacy and embarass him with ease. But I didn't think Calzaghe could roll back the years, I still had the image of him looking patheticly crap (compared to his usual self) against Salem and like an Ethiopian at the Ashira weigh-in. But I now realise that Salem performance was just due to his head being all over the place due to being in the middle of a messy divorce at the time. And I didn't know that Joe hired a nutritionist to help him with weight (for the Lacy fight), and how much this helped.

Reid looks better against Lacy than he does against Magee and Serdjane, and I put that down to Lacy being so poor. I remember Lacy looking sloppy, unskilled, novice-like and weed-like in the Reid fight. He looked like a weed.

Anyone that thinks Calzaghe is "arrogant" and "****y" because he was talking **** about Lacy's power inbetween rounds is straight special bus material. He was doing it to hype himself up, and make himself perform better, along with his corner who were also giving Calzaghe a temporary burst of confidence.

The people who cant take the fact that Lacy lost every round and then got a TOTALLY LEGIT knockdown scored against him in the last round need to go to therapy.

If you can back it up (RJJ in his prime for example), you have every right to be arrogant.
