We will see...you think Haymoneyless or ArScum are going to risk their cash cows against anyone without a multi fight commitment? That's promoting 101.

Oscar actually isn't wrong, BUT the fighter can be the one with a vision of his future too. And I think Mikey is ultimately cool with multiple visions of his future cuz I don't believe he's in this for legacy, he's in this for money & for his future outside the ring. So Oscar isn't wrong, but neither is Mikey in this case.

Idk that a lot of those PBC guys have any real vision they are trying to move forward is likely a lot of their problem & Jacobs found that was an issue for him & thus made a good deal for him with Hearn + HBO.

Yeah but Mikey isn't with PBC. He's a free agent and can fight on any network so that doesn't apply to him. He's just taking control of his career.

            Boxing needs the fighters.

I'm still not convinced it needs the promoters.

They are all on the same boat. Canelo was a PPV star since Haymon fighters where with Goldenboy. There hasn't been any new superstar from anyone since then. Maybe GGG and that's it.

I guess you being little known has something to do with your inability to see how dumb signing that long term contract would've been. He would've gotten the Cotto fight, then what would've been next..... Sadam Ali? Then another unknown? The Linares unification has already been mandated.

It would've been really ****** to let Oscar tie him into a long term contract when GBP only cares about Canelo. The poor handling of Cotto this year showed that. He disregarded the entire Cotto fight in August to focus on MayMac and Canelo/GGG. Now he sends the ppv guy out on HBO with Sadam freaking Ali. Not Varges, Brook, Khan, Bradley, Pacman, Marquez, M Garcia, D Garcia, Horn, Broner, or Lemueix....... but Sadam freaking Ali.
It's an opinion. So obviously this is a lost conversation. But Mikey beating Cotto potentially on Pay Per View then getting Linares, then maybe a fight with Lucas Matheyse. The contract was literally for 3 or 4 fights. All 7 figures.

He could have been one of the faces of HBO and gained a lot of popularity.

You say again Golden Boy cares no one other than Canelo yet look at there Main Event talent who are fighting multiple times on HBO whether it's on Championship boxing or Pay Per View cards.

Cotto was handled poorly but that deal was more based on Cotto getting help from Golden Boy Promotions with his promotional company more than his last fights in my opinion. Hence his best fighter fighting on HBO in a couple of his best fighter Machado fighting Corrales.

Again I really don't get what was so wrong with the thought of Mikey Garcia signing to Golden Boy.

It doesn't matter anymore. It didn't happen both sides just move on.
