Exactly so. It wasn't a fair result and even Ward's cock suckers know it.Hunter's dog fight equals anything goes.
In pro boxing you have rules that are interpreted differently by different refs and even refs who interpret the rules differently from fight to fight.
Ultimately you have a situation where a ref's action, rather than a boxer's skill, determines who wins the fight.
In round 2, according to Weeks, punches Ward landed on Kovalev's belt were illegal, and he gave him a warning for them.
By round 8, punches to the belt and even below the belt were ok by Weeks.
And even if those last 3 punches had been legal - which they weren't - why no count for Kovalev when he sat down on the bottom rope?
When Ward got decked in the first fight he got a count and a chance to recover and carry on. I repeat .. why no count for Kovalev?Comment

Cut the bull**** mate. You know exactly what he meant.
"Right now it’s 1-1. And second fight he won with the help of the referee. OK, but 1-1. But let’s do like a third one.”
LAS VEGAS – Sergey Kovalev knows it probably isn’t a realistic expectation, but he wants a third fight against Andre Ward. Kovalev considers their series even. The former light heavyweight champion thinks he should be given credit for winning their first fight, which Ward narrowly won by unanimous decision (114-113 on all three scorecards) on November 19 at T-Mobile Arena. Despite another controversial conclusion, Kovalev concedes Ward won their rematch June 17 at Mandalay Bay Events Center.Comment

I don't like the generalization but in this case he's right, Kovalev didn't do well in a dog fight. He wasn't prepared for the long grind against a fighter who's known to make things unpleasant for his opponents. Call it what you want but Kovalev wanted to finesse his way to a victory.Comment

Over there the ref breaks up fights as soon as they go on the inside. This is why they have a hard time adapting to inside fighting, they are very good outside fighters tho. Salido and ward understood this well.Comment

I didn't compare the environments of Russians and Americans growing up. I said that for Eastern Europian/ Russian fighters boxing is not the only way out of poverty. And fighters coming from middle-class background are more common there. Kovalev is the only fighter even remotely resembling a street thug. Even Ruslan with all his do or die style looks nothing like a criminal.Comment

the negroid boxers dont deal with getting punched too well and have a tendency to end up with brain damage, for example: cassius clay, meldrick taylor, gerald mcullen, mayweather snr, roger mayweather, michael watson etc.
Maybe they should be allowed to wear affirmative action helmets.Comment
