GGG's Legacy

none were against prime atg'sHopkins stopped Glen Johnson. And had remained the only guy to do so before he kept fighting too long. Johnson later went on to become Ring magazine fighter of the year and the top lt hvy in the world as he was also robbed in his first fight with Dawson
Ko'd Trinidad in a fight that he was a 3-1 underdog. You can't have 80% of the public and writers picking one guy as he's the big favorite, but when he loses, he was too small. Nope. Doesn't work that way.
Moved up 2 weight classes in his 40s and beat Tarver who was THE top lt hvy in the world at the time. And basically shut him out.
After losing to Calzaghe, fought Pavlick, in another fight that he was the underdog and beat him rather easily.
Those are 4 undeniable great wins on Hopkins' resume.Comment

Great example bro I also think it's exactly like hip hopBoxing is no longer about legacy and fans need to accept that. Take a look at this current generation that's coming up, not one of them is trying to take the torch. You have a few fighters that care about it but that number is minimal. It's like hip-hop the moment mofo's realized they could play their cards right and get paid well for it with low risk "mastery of lyricism" went damn near underground with a few exceptions. Half this boxing class doesn't even want to fight each other. They bark loud for the cameras but when they stop rolling they look for the least risk and best reward.Comment

he was one of the top fighters in the world and a 3-1 favorite. I don't give a damn what you say, but if you knew hopkins would win, you'd would have put a few stacks on him. So like the rest of us, you picked Tito to win only to act like you didn't 16 years later. As for prime all time greats, it's hard to find anyone in the past 20 years that's beat 2 let alone 1 prime all time great depending on your criteria what an all time great is. Cuz we know for a fact GGG, floyd, or anyone I can think of at the moment that is currently fighting has beat one outside of Roy Jones beating Hopkins and Toney.Last edited by buddyr; 10-03-2017, 03:29 PM.Comment

[QUOTE=Xi_;18109583]Stfu.....joppy was a b level belt-holder and p4p that win would even stack up to floyd's 10th best win foh.
sounds like one of those overrated b-level boys floyd beat...
pick one...
guerrero
ortiz
maidana 2X
shaky shane
berto
and the oh so dangerous mcgregor for the 50th...
did marquez have a ww belt?
Tito wasn't prime at 160 undefeated or not.
just like a floyd boy...trying to downplay s**t...
hopkins became a superstar after beating prime, elite, undefeated tito ...who did floyd beat to become a superstar again? a faded oscar...Comment

Tito's best weight clearly wasn't 160, but he was in his prime and had looked on excellent form at 154 and against Joppy. Joppy was in his prime and not considered B level until Tito ended him.
Joppy at 160 WBA belt holder in his prime (robbed against Green, avenged anyway with two wins inc. stoppage) was a good champion and I'd venture to say a better opponent than the versions of Hatton, De La Hoya, Mosley, Maidana, Canelo, Cotto, Guerrero, Ortiz, Judah etc; that Mayweather faced when you factor in where they were in their careers, the weight etc; etc; Can't just go with the names on paper.
The Trinidad win is obviously much better than anything Floyd has ever done. It probably beats his best 3 or 4 wins combined.Last edited by chrisJS; 10-03-2017, 03:37 PM.Comment

All of those guys(except conor) were better than joppy tbh. Most of them have had better careers and were better p4p than joppy. You overrating joppy doesnt change the fact that ggg nor hopkins will ever be greater than floyd. Why didnt your favorite fighter ever beat a prime atg?Comment
