not at al because that's not what happened. Everyone knows that Stevenson took himself to showtime at al haymons request to avoid that fight. Same way haymon steered Santa Cruz away from rigo. Just compare their opponents faced and you'll see quite easily which of those 2 would fight whoever and which is trying to milk their title for all it's worth.

Ward wouldn’t of fought Kovalev for what they were offering Stevenson.

Very well put by Michel, but it just shows the bottom line is this:

        1. Adonis ducked Kovalev
        2. Ward ducked Adonis
        3. Ward would have ducked Kovalev if not for his promoter offering to pay him more than the entire event generated to fight Kovalev

Meanwhile, Sergey Kovalev not only tried to fight both of them for whatever money was available, but Kovalev even offered to fight Artur Beterbiev as his homecoming tune-up opponent before Ward. So, remind me again who the true champion in that division is who is willing to take on all comers? I don't understand why Kovalev gets more hate than either of those guys when it's clear he's been the one all along most willing to give fans the fights they want to see.

As for now, if Ward won't fight him, why doesn't Adonis just fight Kovalev already? It should have happened years ago, but why not now?

His promoters lost millions of dollars each time he fought Kovalev. I don't really understand why they did it, but hey more power to him for getting that money I guess.
I would also like to know the answer to this. Was it like a secret Western imperial political Nixonian thing? Did someone in some high up place want to prove America was still superior to Russia, so they funneled whatever money was necessary to make the fight through David Rockafeller Nation promotions to pay both Andre Ward and the refs and judges, in order to ensure that in the biggest boxing match between an American and a Russian in who knows how many years, the American would win?

I mean, if it wasn't some political thing, or some ideological thing, what else could explain it? Businessmen aren't in the business of losing millions of dollars just to see an athlete perform, especially not one as boring as Andre Ward. Businessmen never give millions of dollars away like that in a contract unless it's not truly about business. They would only do that if it was actually about something else more important to them than money, like politics, or ideology. So if some journalist could look into this situation more, I think there must be an interesting story there beneath the surface.

Since when has team Ward and Virgil hunter been all about money? That sounds like a cheap lame excuse for not pursuing the fight against Adonis Stevenson to fully unify the light heavyweight Division and then Retire. Why even make a comment like that directly after he retired, Stevenson has a good shot of taking out Ward.

We get it. You'd rather Ward retire than take a high risk fight. It's ok, Ward is now permanently protected from the boogeyman Stevenson.

              LOL

Would be interesting to find out. Has anyone done an extensive interview with Ward's promoter? That might give some answers.

So you're just going to pretend the 2 fights with Ward didn't happen?

Kovalev is a fan favorite. Ward is called a dirty cheater every day. Stevenson is called a ducker and people often bring up his criminal background. You remind me again how he gets more hate.

That is a very good point you made. Since Ward is already retired why even bring up Adonis name if you're not gonna fight him and use money as an excuse. It's not like Andre Ward is a cash cow who always get BIG time purses for his fights. Hekk Kovalev-Ward was a good fight but neither fight was a blockbuster must see event. They did 165k buys on the first fight and the second fight brought in 130k that's not baller status by any means lol
