Anybody can be champion if positioned properly and a lot of guys win vacant titles, just like when Kovaquit won the vacant WBA-NABA USA Light Heavyweight title. He didn't beat a champ. Grabbed a belt of Cleverly who is a bum and beat a 50 year-old man that was pro for 26 years. Kovaquit was 5 years old when Hopkins turned pro lol. I guess you could call him a champ, but imo more like a untested basic chump.

Strategy? Kovalev is garbage. He throws the same combo, has no standalone left hook, and doesn't even know basics like how to cut off the ring. Stay away from his right hand and you got him beat.
You countered nothing I said about Ward. I'll accept the concession.

It would have been great to see Kovalev and Stephenson battle for Light Heavy Supremacy. Neither's resume at Lightheavy is that stellar but they were the legit champions. Kovalev is not garbage he just isn't as good as his hype. I thought he showed a lot of skills against Ward the first time around but he was not able to match Andre's will. I'm excited to see the rest of his career.

Damn! Yvon's account on how HBO was doing business has been proven by the direction they've taken their boxing business recently. Seems clear HBO, who now has shrunk their budget, simply got caught trying to play hardball. I think they only wanted to hand out 1 good deal in that division and they chose Sergey instead of Adonis. They were cheap then and only got cheaper each year after.

Ward refused to fight outside the U.S., he bashed Stevenson for not trying to unify the division...yet Ward never unified one himself. He had the opportunity to unify 175 but wants to price himself out of a fight and insist on home-court advantage. Typical Andre Ward, glad he chose to retire with his diva bullshyt. No one will pay for his boring, dirty fights. This guy couldn't sell a cheeseburger to a hungry hostage. Good riddance.

I'm pretty sure I've dumped on everything you've said, but whatever gets you to sleep at night. I get it man, coping mechanisms and all.

Kovalev sucks. He had a few good rounds then Ward beat him up 8-4 in the 1st match. He didn't show any skills actually. The only success he had was timing related. He was 1st and countering Ward in those first few rounds then he fell apart like I knew he would.

Kovalev won't amount to anything now that he knows how to lose. Plus, he gets mortally rocked by one punch and that's bad news for that cat.

Right after this tweet to Jack, Ward acted as if he hadn't seen anything. And quickly asked Eddie Hearn if they could setup a fight between him and Buglioni.
Buglioni, HBO and RocNation says Hell No; and Andre Ward retired.

one say I can say is that Kova won the first fight easy and never resorted to dirty tactics even when he should have.

                That thing was fixed.

I found out I did not watch boxing for 2 weeks straight for the first time in years and let me tell you, I feel great.
I am tired of the dirtiness of this business.
