  • Comments Thread For: Wilder: I Beat Stiverne Within Inch of Life; Not Ready for Me!

NEW YORK Deontay Wilder doesn't see any reason why he should box Bermane Stiverne again. There was no doubt about Wilder's win in their January 2015 fight, which Wilder won by 12-round unanimous decision to take the WBC heavyweight title from Stiverne. That was the only time in Wilder's 38-fight, nine-year career that he hasn't knocked out his opponent, but a rematch seems unnecessary.

To within an inch of his life? Did they have another fight someplace that none of us heard about?

Wilder had his best performance in that fight, but he boxed circles around Stiverne - he clearly didn't take any chances for a KO.

That's the Wilder that will fight Joshua, and gives him his best chance at beating Joshua. I'm riding with Joshua though because I think that Wilder will not handle Joshua's power over 12 rounds.

Stiverne is handling and controlled by Don King who is In Like Flint with Sulaiman, that's why he's the mandatory...

You don't care or follow rankings. Oh believe me I know. That explains why Ortiz is the first top 5 ranked guy he's ever fought. Man this guy is sorry. And he couldn't knock Stiverne out.

Yeah it's incredible Stiverne was able to survive all those weak backfoot jabs, I hear they had to hook him up to 5 life support machines at once just to get him through the night.

"The most important thing is that Bermane is OK. That is my main concern," Don House said with tears in his eyes. "I noticed somewhere in the fight, probably around the third or fourth round, something wasn't right. Even though he told me he was OK, we all know Bermane. I don't mind losing a fight, but I knew something wasn't right, so I was very concerned. Around the ninth or 10th round, I was thinking to stop the fight because you don't have to continue, but he wanted to keep fighting."

Bermaine is getting paid 6 figures to step aside, that's more money than he made in all of 2016.

Also, boxrec has Bermaine scheduled to fight Dominic Breazeale 11/04, literally 10 days shy of a 2 year layoff. Can anyone confirm?

I think he must have meant to say "but he wanted to start fighting" as the crowd, TV viewers were still waiting on that in the 9th/10th round.
