I honestly didn't need this kind of debate in my life. Mayweather is in for sure.
I'll have to go with Jones next despite the latter part of his career. Klitschko and Ward is tough. An undefeated gold medalist vs a long reigning champion. Gun to my head I would put Klitschko ahead Ward. However, I have a feeling Ward would get the nod.

If everyone who might be done in 2017 is (and that's unlikely), I can't see any argument other than Floyd-Roy-Wlad.

It's not a bad thing either. Would mean a couple strong classes in a row because Toney may also be in the 2022 mix and I'd vote for him ahead of Ward too. Easy.

What a wonderful dilemma to have? However, keep in mind that rules are made to be changed. Therefore, I believe that the IHOF should amend this rule and allow more first ballot HOF boxers to get in.

My top three would be Jones, Mayweather and Ward; Since they have made the most impact on the sport. My other first ballot choices would be Juan Manuel Marquez, Miguel Cotto, Timothy Bradley and Wladimir Klitschko.

All seven of these boxers are HOF worthy and should be eligible to land on the first ballot also.

No doubt Pacquiao would be in. Bradley and Cotto wouldn't even be in the conversation. Bradley will be in the year before (last fight in 2016) and Cotto just isn't close to the fighters already mentioned in the thread.

I agree with many who I see saying this will still end up getting shuffled up. Most notably I think RJJ isn't likely to be done the most of those mentioned. I suspect Floyd & Klitschko are the most likely to be legit done, but you never know these days. And I suspect Ward hasn't even gotten one of those sexy retired offers that can restore your appeal & excitement with the sport.

So I doubt we will have to tell with those 4 specific guys where they ultimately line up when its all said & done, but if we did to me it'd be between Ward & Klitschko. I think I'd have to lean towards Wladimir cuz I think RJJ & Floyd already represent the same thing Ward represents they were just more highly considered & respected during their best days than Ward was. And Klitschko is there off of his impressive one division run which I don't believe anyone else in that year is THAT close to him in that regard so Klitschko shines very well by himself in that way where the others don't as much.

I'd be surprised if we see Manny's last fight being this year. I think at a minimum Pac fights in 2018 putting him at the year after Klitschko + Floyd who I think are the most likely to be legit done guys now.

And I suspect if push comes to shove Cotto is above Bradley. Cotto won titles in more divisions & had more star appeal. Star appeal plays into this sorta sh^t I feel. I mean thats how Gatti got in in the first damn place. If Gatti was a lil less known he's Diego Corrales level & no one even talks about him being up for the HOF hardly cuz of his L's.

Thing is Mayweather, Wlad and Ward are all recent memory, while recent memory of Jones is the washed up version of him.

Jones has been around so long you need to go back to the 90s to remember just how good he was.

As for judging on most recent performance - nope - legacy is a high water mark, once you get it, you got it. eg Ali - want to try judging his legacy on his performance vs Holmes and Berbick ?

For me Mayweather and Jones are the two guaranteed, then a debate between Wlad and Ward (I pick Wlad).
