I'd like to know how old some of you guys are. Anybody arguing that a mid 30s man is in better shape than his late 20s counterpart hasn't celebrated his 35th birthday

Better level of competition=getting hit more=faster deterioration. Better competition can also make you a better fighter.

A fighter is at their absolute best when they gain the necessary experience.

You don't think the Jacobs, Brook, Lemieux fights gave him valuable experience for Canelo? Or any of his past fight for Jacobs?

I said 29, but he was actually 30 against Ouma.

You're telling me that in 2 years time after going life and death with a past it Ouma he beats Canelo and Jacobs in back to back fights? I'm not buying it.

Btw, it's 2017, there are LOTS of athletes extending their pro sports careers later than ever. How many 40 year olds you seen seen that look at good as Wlad vs AJ, or 49 year old Hopkins vs Kovalev?

35 year old ggg had the necessary experience to prep for Canelo. You don't go from being 30 years old and struggling against Ouma to beating Canelo, or even Jacobs for that matter. He needed Brook, Lemieux, Murray etc. to get better.

I don't think anybody is saying he's at his physical peak, but as a fighter he is at his peak in experience and skill. His physicality barely got him past Kassim Ouma at 30, we saw how well that worked out for him. Physical peak and your peak skill level are not the same thing.

Stevens, Macklin, Murray, Brook, Lemieux, etc. they all provided him valuable experience and time to work on things that would ultimately make him better.

Better shape? Maybe not. Better boxer? Yes.

Golovkin fans finding it hard to grasp that fighter can improve more than physically and become a better fighter overall in their 30s it seems.

Several here were insistent to me that Golovkin couple fight at that level until 50, because Hopkins did it. So, I guess he's got another 15 years. Right?

No.. Hopkins and Golovkin have different styles. Can't see Golovkin maintaining that come forward style even to age 40.
