i thought hopkins won both fights.

he was the champion and taylor didn't do anything to take the belts away in the first fight, and between both fights taylor didn't even land a solid shot. nothing ever hit hopkins clean, where as hopkins landed more than enough clean shots to be the victor.

it was hopkins verses HBO and HBO won.

in all honesty i thought that taylor looked better in the second fight but still not enough to beat hopkins, at best for taylor it should've been a draw.

the fact of the matter is, it all boils down to money and who the network can make more money off of and it is Jermain Taylor.

taylor is young, marketable, nice guy so he's good for the public, and a class act. there is a lot more money to be made off of taylor that is going to be boxing for years to come verses an old hopkins who is about to retire.

hopkins outlanded taylor in both fights and made taylor mis and not fight his game plan............. hopkins go beat by politics, plain and simple.

if fights were scored by accuracy and skill rather than workrate then hopkins would have won the first fight and gotten a draw in the second, but judgges dont give fights to boxers like that anymore, jermaine looked sloppy as hell in both figts but he worked and brought the fight, why do you think ricky hatton is undefeated? judges love the guy that brings the fight, thats all there is to it.

12 round... and i mean badly hurt, taylor was on the verge of being knocked out 3 times in the fight

hopkins won both of those fights ,

the 2nd fight was a lil closer, but again taylor was on the verge of being knocked out... and his face was on swole ... taylor won ? bull****
              NO!
              I dont agree.

Who cares how many times he had him hurt, its about winning rounds.
First fight was close, i scored it a draw but believed hopkins could have won the fight had he starteed faster.
Second fight i had taylor winning 115-113 in another close fight.

Actully, i think i had the first fight a draw when i first watched it, but socred it narrowly for taylor the second and third time i watched it.
Regardless, i was displeased with Hopkins preformance, but felt he should gotten the nod becuase he was champ.

I watched both fights and in my opinion Hopkins won the first fight hands down. And I WAS grading on a round by round basis yet I had Hopkins winning by more than 1 point. Although, I gave the second fight to Taylor, he looked a lot more determined in the second fight and fought smarter. However, there wasn't a time in either fight when it appeared that Taylor had Hopkins hurt, but on the other hand it appeared that Hopkins had Taylor badly hurt on more than one occasion in both fights. Bottom line, though, is Taylor won the rematch. Whether you agree with me saying Hopkins won the first fight or not, Taylor won the rematch scored on a round by round basis.

I am really looking forward to watching Bernard Hopkins fight Antonio Tarver this Saturday night, but not all that excited about the Taylor-Wright fight coming up. I think the Tarver-Hopkins fight will be far more exciting and definatly be a legendary fight regardless of who wins.

                      Taylor won both fights 7-5.

The 2nd fight I scored it live, doing a round-by-round, 7-5, the same score as all three judges and Harold Lederman. I mean, that was about the easiest fight to score there has been in awhile, that was a close fight. Clear cut rounds, I thought. Yeah, they weren't runaway rounds, but easy to score if you have no biases and know boxing.

The 1st fight was also fairly easy to score. Hopkins gave away the fight early and tried to come on late, but too late. Simple. Most who feel Hopkins won the first fight just watched it, and saw him come on strong late and win the championship rounds and said, "YEAH, Hopkins won!" But if you scored it round-by-round, then he lost, clearly. Or they tried to score it after the fact, and watched it to give every benefit of the doubt to Hopkins they possibly could, because they wanted a scorecard with a Hopkins win. Easy to pick those guys out, and there are plenty. He just gave away round after round until later in the fight, if I remember he only won one round before the 8th, and that was the 5th, IIRC. He was bothered by the power Taylor was putting in that right hand early, I feel, and was waiting on him to run out of steam and some of the power come off of it, which he did- he just did it a little too late.
