He never seemed to really love the sport, not since he had been inactive for a while anyway. He talked about retirement a few times.

If he doesn't love the sport and there isn't necessarily any more huge paydays out there for him, then there's probably little point in him carrying on. Also he's approaching his mid 30's now and there's quite a few young LHW's coming through that would probably be high risk-low reward, especially if/when Ward's starts declining at his age. No point in carrying on to lose to guys you would have probably beaten at one point. Might as well get out now while he's on top.

He fought with an injured right shoulder since he was 12 yo... He was very intelligent and he developed skills that allowed him to fight one armed and from an inverted stance...

I never liked his style, but this doesn't mean that I don't value his high professional achievements with the sport...

This is the guy that tried to sabotage the potential sales profits of one of his own fights, the Kov rematch, because of his ego and attitude. A 1st in the history of boxing a fighter tries to sink his own pay per view because he resented the fact that he had not honor his contract and because he also disliked his opponent.

In my honest opinion, Ward is one of the most overrated to ever to do it...at least he controlled his destiny though, congrats and enjoy retirement.

So I guess you think lil g isn't overrated huh.....

Agreed, Ward was hands down the best p4p fighter of his era, 2016-2017.
