No way this fight happens this year to fight in less than 90 days after a hard fight he just had as well as fighting a GBP fighter better be careful where he has it, if it happens it better not be in Vegas or NYC, though I think GGG would hammer Cotto one never knows what may happen in those two locations some of the judging as we all have seen his very very strange...Comment

The more I think about this, the more I think its Loeffler throwing a curveball as part of the Saunders negotiations. You just know Warren is going to pitch high, and if Loeffler can float a plan B, it brings Warren into check.
There's just no way Golovkin/Cotto happens, he's just using Cotto's statement to fight the winner (and Cotto meant he'll rematch Canelo if Canelo wins anyway) to create the illusion that its a possibility.
Cotto won't go to 160, and especially not for Golovkin, and Golovkin won't come down.
And Golovkin won't want the fight any more than he wanted Brook. He wants the WBO belt, and that's Saunders.
Its far more likely Cotto would go for Saunders, which gives Saunders a Plan B in negotiations with Golovkin instead. Loeffler is trying to hijack that in the only way possible, with low possibility of it working. But he's not doing his job if he doesn't try.
All smoke and mirrors.Comment

If GGG told the truth about caring about legacy over business, that doesn't his handlers agree. It sure seems like the people running GGG's career are business men and don't care about the sport. They even seemed fine with Canelo aging GGG before they fought because they didn't care if that hurt GGG's chances to have a legacy performance and knock out Canelo, all they seemed to care about was that that would increase PPV buys.
So I don't know if GGG is just an actor who repeats catch phrases, or if he truly means what he says when he's says he's not business man, but whether he's directing it or not, his career has definitely gone in the business-over-legacy direction lately, which is the exact opposite of what they promised GGG was to start with. And certainly it doesn't seem like GGG is telling them "no." If there's an article this week where GGG says, "I don't want Cotto. I want the belt. I told my team, I need my last belt, make the Saunders fight," then we'll have proof he meant it, but if they make the Cotto fight, in the end he signs the contract, so maybe he just trusts his team and does what they suggest, but... anyway...Comment

Its simple, a good payday for GGG as well as an easy tune up. Also GGG's stock is at an all time high right now beating a name like recognizable name in impressive fashion will only help sustain that. Cottos doesnt want that fight though, I think he was banking on Canelo winning a decision in Vegas and then getting his rematch to cash out on win or lose.Comment

Why would he want to fight Cotto? Its not just about the money you drama queen. Cotto is a future hall of famer. If that has even the slightest possibility of going down it makes sense to pursue it. But its only a slight chance so the priority should be other people like Billy Joe Saunders. And that is what will wind up happening.
